I haven't been around here a lot lately, and I'm sorry for that, but like with most families, absence doesn't make us any less family. And you guys *are* like extended family to me.

Our beautiful, sweet, perfect good boy Murphy crossed the Rainbow Bridge peacefully tonight, surrounded by a room full of people who loved him more than anything in this world. This dog was loved by EVERY SINGLE PERSON that ever met him. There will never be another dog like my Murphy ever.

I am more of an absolute mess right now than I have been over any terrible thing that has ever happened to me. Absolutely irreparably devastated right now.

So sorry to hear this Coz….I know how tough that is. Great picture….he was a sweet looking dog. Condolences to you and the family and I hope you guys can find peace and comfort soon.

When my cat Sally died, I was right there with her. I like to believe it meant something to her, that I was there and the last thing she saw. I trust everyone who met Murphy is a better person because of it.

The amount of unconditional love dogs can give you is such an incredible thing.

Goddamn Coz. Hugs for the entire Cozmo's. It's the 1-year anniversary of us losing our 1st dog. Nothing in life compares to that pain and sorrow.

Well, I didn't lose a pet recently. All I said was that most of us know what it's like and can relate to Coz's pain.

Some people get another dog when theirs passes. It helps with the empty house feeling and I get it. There is no way we could ever put ourselves through this hell ever again. No possible way. My heart hurts so bad.

I hear ya. We're thinking we'll be in the same boat. When it's Chewbacca's time, we'll both be in our late 50s, and not sure we want to start again as pet-owners. Time will tell.

The grief will pass, and you'll remember Murphy with much fondness and happiness in time. Mrs.jingle was in a deep funk (worst of her life) for about a month. Take care man

I know it's not possible for everyone given circumstances, but I feel like this is why having two dogs is a good option. You get your first one, and you get a second one 7ish years later. When one passes, you still have one around. The void left behind is still their, certainly, but I think it's a little more barrable. Get another puppy and repeat the cycle.

Not on purpose, but that's kind of what we did. I have an older chihuahua and daschund, and we just got a Boston Terrier about a year ago. My step son is VERY sensitive to pets passing (he lost a fish, he wouldn't let us flush it unless we agreed to never use that toilet again) and so this is a way of cushioning that inevitable blow.

Thanks again everyone. My wife and I are squarely on the same page. EVERYBODY who met our boy would agree that he was pretty much perfect in every way. They've told us so. Not that any dog should have to measure up, but none ever will. I will never put us through this sort of hell ever again.

On top of that, my stepson's grandmother passed yesterday, idiotic work issues, we're down 3 out of 5 cars here at home, and ALL of the cramming I've done in the last two weeks for a very serious audition tomorrow - I can totally understand how people become alcoholics just trying to cope. At that point, you're alive, but you're not *living*. Life is just something that's happening to you.
