ISO Vintage Programs (Freeware/Shareware/etc)
« on: July 23, 2021, 07:38:54 PM »
Does anyone have a website that has old versions of programs for the Windows 98 era?

I used to have lots but back then storage was always at a premium and had to delete most of it.  I remember having cool programs like:

Sonique (audio player)
Eudora (email)
Webferret (pre-Google)
ICQ (chat)
Etc.

I've been in nostalgia mode lately and would love to check out these old gems again but my Google game isn't giving me any results.

Sonique was the shit back in the day cuz the interface wasn't square and hard lines.  The edges had a lot of jaggedness but they really pushed it back then.

I'll look more into oldversion.com but it's funny that they don't have Sonique on there.

Man, I wish I had my old ZIP drive and disks that had all my programz.

This site seems to have every version available for download.

This thread got me going down the rabbit hole of building a win 98 era machine. I've thought about it before watching LGR on youtube but I just don't have the space for it, hell I even remember my ICQ number still :lol

I blame LGR and 8-Bit Guy for sucking me into the retro void.

My ICQ is 4121858 but I can't remember the password and the "rescue" email was one that went extinct at least 15 years ago.

I remember that's how I lost mine, my recover went to an email that was my old ISP. Once we changed ISP's I couldn't pull up that mailbox.

I remember once needing to install DOSBox to play some old DOS-based games that wouldn't play on an XP system.
