Not long now.

Just getting ready.  I'm glad no potential blockbuster thing is on the verge of happening.

Kind of psyched for the season, but the big one is next year when we're planning a family trip to see Cal play Notre Dame in South Bend.

Yep, just another ho-hum year in the world of the NCAA. Let's enjoy the purity and innocence that is amateur athletics.

Oklahoma and Texas formally informed the Big 12 they would not be renewing the grant-of-rights when they come up again in 2025.  The first legal step to the destruction of major college football as we know it.

After a handful of games last week ("Week 0"), the season is officially under way as of last night.

Ohio State got a bit of a scare from Minnesota.  UCF came from behind to beat Boise State after a 3 hour weather delay.  And most importantly, Appalachian State is 1-0 after beating East Carolina last night.   :metal

Looking forward to seeing in North Carolina is for real tonight against Virginia Tech, and the Clemson-Georgia game Saturday night.  Penn State-Wisconsin should also be fun.

Screw Ohio State.

I'm very excited for the return of college ball with capacity crowds, but damn PSU has to go to Wisconsin for the first game?! Not a fan of this  :lol Should be a good one, but who knows how the team is going to perform on the road to start to the season against a tough opponent.

PSU also gets to play Auburn (a home white out).  Their schedule is not favorable.  I am really excited though.

Oklahoma and Texas formally informed the Big 12 they would not be renewing the grant-of-rights when they come up again in 2025.  The first legal step to the destruction of major college football as we know it.

and now the Pac/Big10/ACC are forming an alliance, whatever that means.  College football is definitely going to be changing and thats not even including the money thing now.

It's a big reason for me to not cut the chord. Live sports but especially my favorite sport, college football. Plus I get the Big Ten Network so I won't miss any of my teams games

I fall into this camp. I won't cut the cord because I love sports too much. Hell, I've been known to go watch a high school football game on occasion although I am so spoiled that I miss instant replay.  :D

Congrats Cram,

That was a very entertaining game, heart rate going wild in the 4th quarter. Kind of amazed PSU pulled that one out.

Nice jump for PSU to #11 in the AP poll. Ball State isn't going to be a cupcake this weekend.  That's a very solid mid major who could sneak up on PSU if they don't come out ready to roll.  Definitely feels like a trap game after a big road win and Auburn next week.

Appalachian State gets Miami this week, who somehow I doubt will play as bad as they looked against Alabama.

Just about everyone looks bad against Bama, but then again, pre-season rankings are fairly meaningless.  We really don't know how good or bad teams are just yet.  Maybe Miami really isn't that good. But given Bama's history, it's likely they are just THAT good (again).

Interesting weekend of college ball.

Always fun to see blue bloods like Ohio State and Texas get beat.

lol Florida State

Appalachian lost one they should have won against Miami.  That sucked.

Add in that Notre Dame squeak by  :lol

College gameday is coming to Happy Valley this weekend, should be a good one for Auburn at Penn State.  Very rare to see an SEC team come north.  PSU is favored, but I don't feel comfortable at all in this game.  Should be a great white out atmosphere, but I worry about these SEC teams just being really good and being able to silence the crowd if they come out strong.  Having said that, PSU's defense looks really good this year.  Luketa (#40) is an absolute monster on DL/LB and we got Joey Porter's son in the secondary.  I was pissed when Ball St. scored a TD againt us last week, it was after they pulled the starters.  Oh and Ball St. was on a 8 game winning streak after winning the MAC and returning 20/22 starters.  I expected that game to be a bit tighter than it was, but PSU is just very talented compared to a MAC school.  Can our new OC dial up a game plan to put points up on an SEC team is the big question for me?

Potentially exciting weekend of college football:

Auburn vs. Penn State (definitely rooting for the Nittany Lions in this one)
Nebraska vs. Oklahoma (Sooners should win big, but just seeing the matchup makes my heart feel good)
Cincinnati vs. Indiana (should be a good game, hopefully the Bearcats keep it rolling)
Alabaman vs. Florida (I doubt the Gators can do much with them, but they will have my support)
BYU vs. Arizona State should be a great late game

As it turned out, Nebraska Oklahoma and Alabama Florida were much closer than things appeared in the mirror. Props to both the big underdogs for making games of it.
