Oingo Boingo Thread

so up until a few days ago I didn't know that oingo boingo even existed, lol. All my life I liked Danny Elfman, but to me he was just a movie score composer, but I was pleasantly surprised to hear to him in oingo boingo.

They remind of 80's king crimson in a way and Elfman's voice brings Devin Townsend to mind at times. I'm really digging the band.

any one else like oingo boingo?

I like Oingo Boingo! I do have to be in the mood, though...I guess it's one band that's best enjoyed in relatively small doses, at least for me. But lots and lots of fun and cool songs in their discography.

There's definitely a bit of that 80s King Crimson new-wave quirkiness, with a bunch of other things thrown in. I don't know what you've heard so far - even though I normally don't like "greatest hits", there is a great double album,"Boingo Alive", which has many of their earlier songs in a "live-in-the-studio" setting. The 1996 Farewell Live album is a good one too, with generally heavier and more guitar driven versions of the songs.

Might be time to revisit some Oingo Boingo!  ;)

I like Oingo Boingo, but haven't listened in a long time.  I need to remedy that.

Coincidentally, I am currently listening to Elfman's recent solo album Big Mess.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.
