Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

The awkward sex scene and the twist
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

Top seeds.

Home is DTs most overrated song, and Beyond This Life is their most underrated.

I agree.  Home was my first favorite with DT, but after listening to BTL more and more, it really is a perfect rocker.

I do think Home is just a little overhyped, but Beyond This Life is the closest I've ever gotten to not caring for a long instrumental section in a Dream Theater song. It's good, I just think it goes on a little bit too long sometimes. (That being said, BTL as a whole is still a 9.5/10 for me.)

I think it was Setlist Scotty who told me that one’s enjoyment of that section most likely depends on one’s enjoyment of the Zappa that inspired it.

I adore that section, and what’s more I think the extended live version from LAB might be the most incredible thing DT has ever done.

I probably did. Given that I'm not a fan of Zappa, I can't stand something as overt at what they did in BTL (as opposed to what they did in CiaW, where they made the Zappa influence more their own). I remember listening to BTL for the first time and thinking "what the HELL is this?!?!?" when they got to that. Remove that section, and it would probably be my favorite tune on SFaM. But its existence pulls the song down several notches in my book.
As a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.
