Ian Thornley (Thornley/Big Wreck)... bit of a slow burner here but I really, really enjoy this solo.

Bump!

Every so often, I revisit this band and every single time I get reminded of how much I love this song, and the solo in particular:

Funny this thread should pop up.  I was just listening to this album again today and recalling how much I like this one at 4:28 (there's another a couple minutes earlier, but it's more just an overall band instrumental break to me).  Max is a killer up and coming player, and I hope he keeps playing solos like these.  I wouldn't mind a Plini-style solo album from him if he's up for it.  The tone is maybe a bit modern for some, but he has some really tasty phrasing, a sense of when to burn and when to hold back, and some delicious outside note choices.

Really cool solo  :metal some strong Plini vibes from the solo. I'll check them out, might like what I find if that's what they sound like.

I time stamped this for a particular moment, but all 17+ minutes of this video is a guitar showcase/clinic for young Hal-Ca (19yo) of Asterism (the drummer and bassist kick serious ass as well, anyone a fan of instrumental rock needs to put these kids on their radar)... the future of shred is in very, very capable hands...

Ah yeah, his solo releases are loaded with stuff like that, hence part of why I sent one in Luke's roulette.

Dueling keyboard and guitar solos here, but it's quite the guitar tone for such a poppy song (which is absolutely electric by the way):

That album is still some of the best pop ever made to me.  I think Jerry McPherson is on that track.  Dann Huff's solo on "You're Not Alone" is incredible, one of my favorite songs of all time.  Dann has a whole slew of great solos in that era, including a number of others with Amy.

One tasty solo? How about a whole bunch of them - some lead breaks in the intro, a big solo in the middle, and more lead breaks in the outro!  :D

Didn’t realize Huff played on the album. Those big singles from that album were all great. Funny because I just put together a playlist that had this song on it and Giant’s Innocent Days trying to capture a certain vibe.

Possibly my favorite solo of all time and it is from Alan Morse. Something I never thought I would say. Runs from 4:15 to 5:55. I set the video to start just before the solo.

https://youtu.be/WPMdMvg050o?t=252

Something to note for those unfamiliar, Al does not use a pick, he's a finger player.
beul ni teh efac = Lube In The Face / That has to be wrong.  :lol / EDIT: Oh, it's Blue! I'm an idiot.
Pardon the interruption, but I just had to run in and celebrate the majesty of Lube in the Face as highest moment in roulette history

Just in terms of solos at least, Al has become one of my favorite players. We had some discussion previously of this one versus the “My Shoes Revisited” solo (my personal favorite), but this is definitely an all time great solo as well.

One of my favorites in the last 20 years. Great feel.

The song is amazing as well.
