Mister Pimmer Perp Merp

I MUST CONFESS IT WAS ME. I NEEDED TO SILENCE THE SCREAMS.

Love this part, that is all.

Honestly, I don't mind the simple and straightforward approach in the writing of the lyrics, because if I think about what's actually happening in this song too much, it... gets to me.

By the way, I have no idea why people are laughing/griping about the lyrics here. I can sort of understand for something like "My music player", I can see how for some people James' delivery sounds so passionate that it ends up sounding too silly to take seriously. But as for Dead Asleep, I've seen at least three parts of this song's lyrics highlighted as being terrible, and I can't understand what's wrong with them in either the writing or the delivery.

It's all a matter of taste, my friend. One man's poetry is another man's, well, NOT poetry ;D

For me, personally, the bolded part of your post is my issue. The actual couplets and imagery employed are par for the course with most modern rock lyrics. My beef isn't with any of that, but rather, the specific subject matter. At the risk of being redundant, I'll forgo going into specifics, but at this point in my life, I'm not going to listen to anything that "gets to me" if I can avoid it.

Fortunately, we're really only talking about one song here.

Yeah, and the fact that what the lyrics are actually saying doesn't completely match up with the tone of the music is unsettling (in a good way).

Same for me on both your points.

I like the lyrics, but they get to me as well. It's a little too disturbing being a married man.

I think that's a good way to put it.

Honestly probably one of their most addictive songs! I can't stop listening to it!
