Madness thread - Welcome to the Thread of Fun!!
« on: May 10, 2021, 09:02:07 PM »
Anyone else a fan?

Before last fall, I think the only songs of theirs I had heard was Our House, which was a big here in the States in '83, but I stumbled across some of their other songs when going down the YT rabbit hole one night and discovered that they have a lot of good songs.  Their sound feels like a cool combo of new wave, ska and rock.  Not sure how else to describe it.

Even better, their videos are hysterical. They remind me of what Monty Python music videos would look like.  Just a bunch of Brits acting silly and having a good ole time.

Some good ones below, if anyone is interested.

I could swear you started a Madness thread like a month or two ago. I remember looking up one of their albums and everything!

At my time of reading this, the Madness thread is right below the Queensryche thread. Coincidence?

And yes HOF is correct.

I'm a fan of ska music, loved it growing up so I did go back and listen to a bunch of "old school" ska bands including Madness when I was younger.  I have a live album that I enjoyed, but never dug into them further as I didn't really love it.

Wow, I have zero recollection of having started that thread back in January. :lol Getting older blows.

Good enough band to warrant another thread, though. ;)

I can’t believe that was January. Feels like a couple weeks ago. Time flies!

Seems like I would have posted in it.

I caught House of fun on TV when I was seventeen years old or something, and loved the tune. I was into rock and metal at the time, but this was something else. It was so catchy that I immediately went out and got the first four albums. To this day, there are so many tracks that I dig, but I wouldn't say a single album floors me as a whole. I'd rather make an awesome compilation.  ;)
