T None (how is that possible?)

It's not. You can surely do better than that.

I did it quickly, literally nothing starting with T came to mind. And granted I am very tired, but still nothing does.

Sounds like you need to clear the same hurdle I recently did and give it up for the greatness of Taylor Swift. :P  (I am being serious)

Except under the OP's rules for this thread, she would fall under T, not S. :p

Very simple really - What is you favorite artist for each letter of the alphabet?
No runners up, no honorable mentions - just one per letter.

'The' Bands are classed as the first letter of the word after 'The'.   Solo artist are classed by the first letter of their first name.

I noticed some folks weren't reading that part anyway, so you aren't the only one. :lol

I'm not going to invoke the wrath of the forum Gods to throw their ban hammer on those who don't follow my rules

However quite why anyone would pick Taylor Swift as their 'T' representative in a world where Tori Amos already exists as a much better piano playing female singer songwriting popstar with a folky lilt ;D

....without considering that hardly anyone on this forum seems to listen to Therion, sooner or later I'll have to make a topic about them dammit!
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

Ha! At least I wasn't the only one!

I'm that case, I have two changes:

B becomes Bruce Dickinson
J becomes James LaBrie

Happily T remains Tarja Turunen.

I was surprised I couldn't come up with a "C" artist.  I looked at others' lists, and most have artists I've never heard of for "C."  I guess I could have thrown in Celine Dion or CS&N, but I only really like a couple songs for each, so....

I will take Taylor over Tori, but despite my new fandom, there is no chance in hell I would take Taylor over Transatlantic, Tears for Fears, Tom Petty or Triumph.  I can also give much love to Talking Heads and Tommy Shaw (solo) as well. See, 't' is a great letter!!

OSI (surprisingly little that I like for O)
Peter Gabriel (sorry Phil Collins, love you too!)
Queensryche

Now I struggled to decide between my favourite band of the moment, who I might not like in 5 years time, and classic perennials that I've always loved. When in doubt, I chose the latter, which means that this list makes me look like an old 70s dinosaur, when really I'm not.

Alan Parsons Project
Big Big Train
Cellar Darling
Dream Theater
Eagles
Fleetwood Mac
Grateful Dead
Heart
Iron Maiden
Jefferson Airplane
King Crimson
Led Zeppelin
Marillion
Nightwish
Opeth
Pink Floyd
Queen
Rush
Springsteen, Bruce
The Tea Party (this is a surprisingly difficult letter)
U2 (not really a fan, but very little better starting with U)
Vega, Suzanne
The Who
XTC
Yes
Zappa, Frank

Another thread that confirms these two bands are most beloved on this board (after DT).

This.

Plus it is not conclusive evidence of anything as the results are skewed. Granted Iron Maiden are a really popular band, but arguably the letter I doesn't have as much choice, compared to other letters.

Basically the only two bands that were in the running for Q were Queen and Queensryche. Does that make those bands two of the most BELOVED bands on DTF? No, just means it was slim pickings and most went with those two bands. I picked Queen but if I ranked my all time favourite bands they wouldn't make the top 100. They wouldn't even come close.

Not sure about Queen, but I noticed Queensryche is a big deal on DTF (because a lot of members are into them). You can see Official Queensryche thread reached the 134th page.

It's hard to deny that Rush and Iron Maiden are two most beloved bands (after DT) though. Many threads and versus polls show that.

Well you can't just disregard the stats when they don't line up with what you think to be true. Queen got more votes than most bands so therefore, from henceforth, they will now be heralded as one of the most BELOVED bands on DTF. Either you put all your faith in the stats or you don't, which is it?

Apart from Dream Theater Rush and Iron Maiden are the most mentioned bands in this thread.

Does it not occur to you to count before posting stuff like this?

As of the time you posted this, Rush had been included in 21 lists.  Iron Maiden was included in 15.  Yes was included in 18.  All three were subsequently included in one list, so the relative rankings remain unchanged.

Of course, as someone else noted, there aren't a lot of "I" choices (nor are there a ton of "Y" choices), so the proliferation of Iron Maiden mentions hardly confirms anything.

For artists going by their actual name, I went with their last name as the starting letter. For those bands that start with “the” I didn’t count that word. I also set a rule for myself that I have to like more than five songs by an artist for them to count, otherwise some bands/artists would make the cut just because they’re the only one I’ve heard that begins with that letter.
