My band - Type 40 - new EP released
« on: March 06, 2021, 07:10:09 AM »
After years of procrastinating I have finally got around to recording and releasing some music (The lockdowns over the past year have helped!). I have released an EP called ‘Lazarus’ under my name of ‘Type 40’.

It is available on:

iTunes: https://music.apple.com/gb/album/lazarus-ep/1551768061

Apple Music: https://music.apple.com/uk/album/lazarus-ep/1551768061?uo=4&app=apple+music

Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.co.uk/albums/B08VNN1CWS?ref=dm_sh_w8ZmKo28nkuBoSDifZ7UAZl9J

Deeper: https://www.deezer.com/en/album/204556302

Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/4b7pToqnUaQIDogEg498nb

YouTube Music: https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kl0Pr513awIbdF85J_ViVGTFrWpc-8_1g

Feel free to share the links with anyone who might be interested.

What really motivated me to release the EP other than lockdown was actually wanting to work on new material. I don't know about anyone else, but I can keep tinkering on songs for ever, going back and re-recording bits, and basically not moving forward with new material.

By releasing it I have forced myself to accept those songs as done. So whilst in itself accepting them as 'finished' is a bit scary (I am never completely happy with something I have recorded), I have drawn a line under them so to speak.

Onto the next EP /album!

Lewis,

Thanks for sharing. Releasing something to the world is a huge step, so congrats on that.

I share your ‘procrastination’ issue, and can totally relate to your desire to close the book lest you fiddle forever.

Assuming this is a ‘one man band,’ I like what I hear!

The writing and arranging reminds me of mid-90s Fates Warning.

The mix is ‘good,’ triggered drums aren’t really my thing, but I’m a dinosaur and fully accept that they are here to stay. I like the guitar work (done great leads) and the keys/synths are a nice touch.

The vocals are good and fit. There’s a little growl there, but you’re singing for the most part, and I think your voice is distinct...kinda reminds me of a 90’s alt-rock vocal approach mixed with a more traditional metal sound.

The third track (with the piano intro) was my favorite, but it’s all good, man.

Cheers

Many thanks for kind words. Indeed it is just me, a one man band. Originally I had another singer in mind, but when that didn’t work out I decided to bite the bullet and sing it myself, and I defy any singer who says that they aren’t their own biggest critic.

I learnt a lot when recording this, so hopefully the song writing and production on the next one will be improved.
