At The Movies, a Swedish project masterminded by Criss Laney, guitarist with Primal Fear. They cover 80s pop soundtrack songs in an 80s metal style and it’s awesome.

They made a full album and are working on a 2nd. They even did a Christmas song.

https://youtu.be/j9O-wya_0N8

And whilst not actual music, Fish On Friday is always a good listen

Hopefully no one posts Toyah and Robert Fripp!

That video made me realize for the first time in the...what, 40 years?, since the song came out, that I had not idea what half the lyrics were.  :lol

Here are 2 killer ones headed up by Phil Demmel.

Dokken's "Tooth And Nail" performed by Russell Allen, Phil Demmel, David Ellefson and Stix Zadinia.  Russell's vocals fit this song better than Don's.

Thin Lizzy's "Bad Reputation" performed by Lzzy Hale, Phil Demmel, Richie Faulkner, Mike Inez and Dave McClain

I love this one.  My first thought when I heard it was "can Don Dokken fire himself and hire Russell Allen to replace him?"   He smokes on that song!

Wow! Great versions. I am not a Russ Allen fan, but I liked him here.

Lzzy Hale did nothing for me though. But Bad Reputation is a great tune and album, my second favorite Thin Lizzy album.

I'm right there with ya on Russ Allen.  Not a big Symph X guy and I hated Adrenaline Mob.  But, he slays here.

As for Bad Reputation... The musicianship is awesome.  Richie Faulkner is a huge TL fan (the Thin Lizzy tribute livestream he did with Damon Johnson is pretty great).  I like Lzzy.  But, I think she was the weakest link of the group.  Dave McClain is an awesome drummer.  He and Phil pair up with Jeff Scott Soto and Billy Sheehan for VH's "Loss Of Control". Another good collaboration.

He’s lost a lot of power/range (dude is 70!), but he sounds a lot like Phil Lynott to me.
