My first and only time voting against Octavarium in this entire league, both song and album.

Abstaining from the first pair since I think they both form the nadir of DT's output. Wouldn't be fair to place one above the other.

#2 was the only one that gave me any real trouble.  Not a fan of either album.  However, at the end of the day, Constant Motion is the only song on SC that I'd really go out of my way to listen to, while FII has 4-5 solid tracks, so....

It doesn’t surprise me. Both are great albums, but Distance Over Time is more stylistically diverse than Train of Thought. Someone can be into the heavier side of Dream Theater and still prefer DoT, but odds are someone who isn’t into Dream Theater’s heavier side won’t prefer ToT.
