Bruce Dickinson - A Chemical Wedding. SO heavy. Very atmospheric. Not Maiden, but outstanding.

Sure, but by that point, Bruce WAS a solo artist.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Steve Hackett's Voyage of the Acolyte would qualify for this as it's a great record and it was made while he was still a member of Genesis.

Michael Romeo's solo album.
Good call!  I can't believe I forgot to mention that one.   :metal

Which one? Because....he has two. Very far apart from each other.

Guessing you mean War of the Worlds and not Dark Chapter.
That is correct. I haven't even heard of Dark Chapter, how good is it?
You can do a lot in a lifetime if you don't burn out too fast, you can make the most of the distance, first you need endurance first you've got to last....... NP

"Owners of dogs will have noticed that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they will think you are God. Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realize that, if you provide them with food and water and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are God.” — Christopher Hitchens

That's a solid contender, right there.  GREAT album.

Trivia: for the longest time, "Mihalis" was often played on the Weather Channel, during the "Weather on the Eights" segments.

Fair enough. Although I was thinking in terms of by whom we normally identify the performer.

I assume Mark Tremonti is counting as a solo artist at this point?

I think it's phenomenal. Definitely a neo-classical shredfest (and all instrumental), but with more unpredictability. Though, there are other differences from DC and War of the Worlds beyond not having vocals.
