Rest In Peace Joey Jordison
« on: July 27, 2021, 03:46:15 PM »
https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/joey-jordison-slipknot-dead-1203167/

Absolutely devastating news. Joey was one of the very great drummers in the modern metal scene, and by all accounts was a world class person as well.
People figured out that the white thing that comes out of cows' titties could be drunk, and the relation between sweet desires and women's bellies growing up for 9 months. It can't be THAT hard to figure out how a trumpet works.”

Did not see that coming. I'm not his biggest fan but I definitely took some inspiration from his playing and always found him entertaining as hell.

He completely dropped off the face of the earth after putting out the initial Vimic stuff and touring with Sinsaenum. Kept seeing that he had one to two albums worth of Vimic ready for release but it just never came out, besides the 5 or so songs that did see release.

I loved Scar The Martyr but I really loved what he was doing with Vimic and was hoping he'd finally get that stuff out. Now I wonder if we ever will see it.

Sad day.

Pardon the interruption, but I just had to run in and celebrate the majesty of Lube in the Face as highest moment in roulette history

I'm surprised you haven't by now, but I don't think you'd like them regardless.

Super sad that he was only 46.  Really good drummer who seemed to have maybe got the shaft from the band too due to his illness.  RIP

I don’t even like Slipknot and I couldn’t escape “Wait and Bleed”. That song was everywhere.

Extremely sad that two mysterious deaths happened so close together.

What a powerhouse he was in Slipknot, so much energy for being so young when he joined the band.

Gone way too young!  :-\

I guess he's throwing it down with Paul.

Not a big Slipknot guy but had Iowa and airways thought the drumming was fantastic. Peace, Joey.

I found out about this last night via Mike Portnoy's Facebook page. My jaw absolutely dropped.

When I was a kid, we thought Joey was the best drummer ever. Fifteen years later and hundreds of drummers later, Joey is still awesome. What a horrible loss.

Not a Slipknot fan but dying suddenly at 46? he's just 5 years older than me, poor guy..... and in the same day of another loss (Metal church singer), what a horrible day for music.
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

RIP.

Waaaay too young and it was sad that he had to leave back in the day due to his illness and couldn't use his talents at that point in time. His drumming for sure helped shape one of the most prominent and impactful modern metal acts.

Really big bummer. One of the biggest reasons I listened to Slipknot was Joey's drumming.

I remember the first time I found out about Slipknot was because of this video:

A friend of mine told me to check out this video and it blew my mind.

Someone posted on Mike Portnoy’s FB that he needs to get back with DT before it’s “too late” referencing Joey Jordison. Portnoy actually responded that he “agreed”. Not that it means anything but now we know he STILL has hopes of a reunion.

Well, if that's what you care about, you don't leave a band in the first place.

Imagine if he dropped his sticks and was just up there rotating and flashing with no drums playing  :rollin

I think Portnoy was more agreeing with life being too short. With him working with John and Jordan again, I don’t think he would say anything to strain those relationships again.
