I went back and listened to some of the first two Creed albums recently due to the whole Texas Rangers thing. I didn’t think either held up very well, though there are moments on the first album I still enjoyed (One is probably the band’s high point for me). They aren’t as bad as Nickelback, and I do still have some nostalgia for them (and appreciate them being a non-nu-metal hard rock band in that era), but I also don’t blame anyone for thinking they were lame. Tremonti for one was definitely more talented than his playing in Creed really suggested. I think they kind of lacked the willingness to push any musical boundaries mainly.

I absolutely despise 3 Doors Down. Was hoping I'd get Big Wreck, but looks like Toronto are the lucky ones.

I still plan on going as the kid wants to see Creed too, as we love us some Tremonti-Phillips-Marshall.

Now 3 Doors Down were really lame. Them and Lifehouse were two from that era that just seemed to want to make the blandest rock music ever.

I like some of Lifehouse's stuff as well.  I understand that it's stuff that one would want to slow dance with a beloved one, but still.  There's room for that in the world.

Oh, nothing wrong with that type of music (I generally prefer it to heavy music). Just that their sound and song(s) (not sure I knew more than Hanging By A Moment) were so bland.

You know, after looking over this festival line-up at the show in San Bernardino, it's pretty all right.  The whatever remains of Fuel is left, Vertical Horizon, Finger Eleven, Daughtry, Three Doors Down, and Creed.  I can tolerate everyone on this bill.  Lawn tickets are $55.00, which seems fine for a 6 band bill.  Parking is included in the ticket at Glen Helen Amphitheater, but I don't know if that means it's a good lot to get in and out of.  Thankfully, this show isn't until 08/31/24, so I got some time to mull it over whether to buy a ticket or not.

As for my shirt choice, if I do go, I'll probably sport a Tremonti Sings Sinatra shirt.  I think that's probably my best choice of shirt without looking awkward.

So...., what has happened to this band since the last post?  Well, Mark and Stapp took part of a Super Bowl commercial for Paramount+

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKzk1h7qrj8

Also, Mark on Twitter has announced that Creed and Tonic will be doing a charity acoustic set in Orlando in May to support NDSS and on sites like Loudwire, Creed has announced an arena tour in November with, you guess it, 3 Doors Down and Mammoth WVH and Finger 11.

I like Wolfgang and Mammoth WVH, but he's been opening a lot of shows from the Alter Bridge/Creed/Slash, Myles, and Conspirators camp and hopefully by the time AB comes back into gear in 2025, he can comfortably do his own headlining shows in solid venues.

That Paramount Plus commercial is fantastic.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

"Sick Cycle Carousel" was always a standout for me, some nice guitar work and tones there.  "Breathing" has a less interesting melody, but some more cool tones and the doubled mandolin riff.

Personally, I hate the new tour(s) from Creed. Look, I'd go see them again, but holy hell, promoters are charging crazy prices for them with 3DD and Finger 11. Just stupid. Second, I absolutely hate that Alter Bridge is taking a step back (again) for a Creed reunion, and so that Mark and Myles can do solo records.

I also think that there is this incestious thing going on with so many of these bands, and work done by Elvis Baskette and Jeff Moll on albums, and all these groups playing together. Enough already. It's like this cult, and at least in Alter Bridge's case, they can't see/hear that all their records sound so sonically similar it is getting stale.

I don't really want to be negative, but I'm just not interested in all of this. Yes, I'll pick up the Creed record when it is done (and I am sure it'll be recorded, mixed, and produced by Elvis Baskette and Jeff Moll), but I don't see the value in this tour to bother. Not for what my local show costs. Easy pass.

The Creed show nearest me is on a Saturday between the Metallica shows that are Friday and Sunday. I don't think I can justify three nights in a row away from the wife and kids. Two would be OK. I had been planning to get tickets to both Metallica nights. Can't decide if I stick to the original plan or just do one Metallica night and Creed.

Yeah, i picked up 3 tickets today for the NY MSG show. Wasn't surprised an arena fall tour was announced at all. They're just capitalizing while the iron is hot. Get suckers (I mean fans) like me to see another show after the summer tour.

Been watching some of the Youtube clips from the Summer of 99 Cruise shows.  The band sounds great and they look happy playing together again.  Scott looks and sounds really good too.

That was my impression as well. I'm looking forward to seeing them.

Hopefully they'll make an album too.
It sounds like, "ruk, ruk, ruk, ruk, ruk." Instead of the more pleasing kick drum sound of, "gzarruk, gzarruk, gzarruk, gzarruk."

Hopefully they'll make an album too.

Mark has said more than once that he has an entire Creed album ready on his computer. If memory serves, he said that several years ago. It'll be interesting to see if they use that material, or if they attempt something new.

To be honest, while I am sure Creed will make a new record at some point, I'm more relieved that Mark's brother said to a fan yesterday on social media that Alter Bridge absolutely was not shelved. So my guess is, AB is on schedule for a 2025 album, Tremonti has been tracking an album (my guess is a late 2024 release) and Creed will do a record in the in-between period from when AB records an album, and its released. So AB and Creed records in 2025, leading to...

The other thing I think is very possible is, now, after years of SEPARATING Creed and Alter Bridge, I wonder if they will finally pull it all TOGETHER. In the U.S., they could do a very big touring bill, with Creed headlining doing a 90-minute set, and AB gets an hour, and a third band like Projected or one of the other related projects opening for 30 minutes. I could really see that happening now.

Then in Europe, flipping the format, with AB headlining (since they are huge in Europe), Creed in the main support slot, and another band opening. I just think it is very possible that now that both bands are stylistically different from one another, it may be time to try and bring it all together and get the biggest $$$ bang for the buck.

Personally I think I'd be more excited about the prospect of a couple more creed albums than AB. I enjoyed the last album quite a bit but I don't know, the sound has just gotten stale to my ears, maybe uninspired is the word I'm looking for.

An AB + Creed tour would be amazing, hell, maybe miles could be the first opener and play some solo stuff, how cool would that be.

It'd be interesting to know if he has the album just written or if they actually had it recorded and ready to be released but just disbanded (again) and it never saw the light of day. I'm way too new as a fan of these bands to know how they write/work, but if they just wanted to put something out, the easy way is just to release what they already had shelved from before.

As for the "Alter Creed" tour, I'm all for it :metal

I personally don't want any crossover between Creed and Alter Bridge.  Alter Bridge has spent these 20 years proving to people that they can be a standalone band.  I understand people take a intrigue of the band because of the Creed connection and Myles' work with Slash and Adam Copeland (formerly known as Edge in WWE) using Metalingus as his theme song, but at the end of the day, all of the exposure means not much if the band doesn't have the songs that has any staying power and AB has 7 albums in their belt that proves they have the catalog to stand on their own feet.  I wouldn't be happy about it at all if I go see a tour that has both AB and Creed and AB only plays like 45-50 minutes and just be second fiddle.

That being said, since all of these bands (and the guys from Sevendust) are under the same management group, I could see a festival tour at some point where it's Creed, Alter Bridge, Sevendust, Tremonti, Projected, and a Myles solo set all under the same bill.

As for what's going in the cruise, things seems look good.  Band looks like they are having fun.  Good for morale.  I hope that atmosphere can keep going throughout their future shows throughout the year.  They shouldn't feel forced to release a new album soon if they feel like the material they have isn't up to what they like.  They should take the Porcupine Tree route that they did with Closure/Continuation where you have something like this quote I found on the wiki page of the album.  "Wilson and Harrison expressed their contentment with the making of the album, having written it with complete creative control, on their own time-table, without intervention from a record label, and not created out of a necessity for money or fame due to their separate projects having failed."

Oddly enough, there are some very good comparable to the Porcupine Tree reunion to the Creed reunion.  You see Steven Wilson saying on and on that he feels no satisfaction on the idea of a Porcupine Tree reunion and that if he wants to do it, it will be on proper terms and not get in the way with his solo stuff.  For Creed, you have Mark saying for years that he doesn't have the time with AB and the solo stuff (and now with the Tremonti Sings Sinatra work he's doing with NDSS) and that he play with the idea of the Creed reunion if there is enough significant interest from the people and if the notion nowadays is that they are not perceived to be a joke (which the idea of them being a joke in the first place is just mean-spirited from those people that should have no credibility whatsoever).
