Actually a decent poll.

Took a while to think about it but ended up going Bohemian Rhapsody. Just a more impressive song overall.

Man, no kidding! While I haven't had any desire to listen to either of these songs in years, I'd be much more inclined to change the channel if BR came on the radio. With Stairway I'd think "oh god, not this song again..." but then a minute or so in I'd be loving it. I think BR is [gasp] overrated anyway. Queen has so many better songs. It's not even the best song off the album its on.

BR is the more overplayed one, you don't hear STH much outside of corporate classic rock radio. I don't need to hear either song ever again.

This was actually pretty tough but ultimately I went with BR. I don't care for the solo in stairway which is what put BR on top.

I'm inclined to go with Stairway. Maybe it's cause I've heard Bohemian enough to last a lifetime, and I really do like it.

I guess I can contend that Bohemian is more "impressive" overall. But Stairway feels more personal and moving.

Yeah. I could go the rest of my life without hearing Boh Rhap again. Not that I dislike it but it's SO over played.

It's like choosing your favorite kid. What do I enjoy listening to more? Stairway, but only by a hair. Bohemian Rhapsody is a completely different animal in all the right ways, though, and is one of the best songs ever made imo. I just love Stairway that much. It's one of those songs that, when I hear it, takes me back to the first time I heard it as a kid. Same night I heard Hotel California, too. Bohemian Rhapsody actually took me a couple years to click with and understand what the hell I was listening to, and I didn't like it at all until that point; I was maybe 11 or 12.

An aside: I was just playing both at the piano yesterday, though, and by the sheets that I have (two versions of BR, one for Stairway), Bohemian Rhapsody is much more fun to play.

Tough call. I was going to say that both have been overplayed, but that's not really true. They deserve all the play they've gotten. I went with Stairway, but if I had to do it all over again, I might go with Rhapsody.

For me it comes down to :

Boh Rhap was always overplayed when I was little - I had friends in school who were Queen fans and it was always winning those " best song ever made " polls on radio etc etc...

I think it re-entered the British Charts a number of times. So i was sick of it even before I appreciated it.

However - I always liked Stairway and only appreciated it MORE each time I heard it due to getting into music and guitar around the same time.

I only really grew to even LIKE Boh Rhap recently. . . Now I don't mind it but i've never LOVED it.

I agree with this. They are great songs; why SHOULDN'T they be played?

I still listen to both to this day, and love them (I just wrote about BoRhap in the Queen thread not three days ago). But for me, who got into Queen very late - late 80's - but who grew up with Zeppelin, and who danced to that song too many times to count while trying not to sweat, breath, or step on someone's toes, it has to be Stairway.

Because I do not listen to radio at all anymore, these songs aren't really overplayed as much for me. Sometimes, I will let either song play if it does come up. I can sense something different, between listening to it on the radio and listening to it on the stereo. I think the reason for this is the radio waves.

I had to choose Stairway to Heaven, it just tugs at my heartstrings more, and has a more impact for me emotionally and mentally with the songwriting.

Bohemian is a great fun song though, and I love it for that. Especially how it starts. But, it loses points for me as they never had done the middle section live.

I can only speak to Southern California radio but from the 70's well into the 00's Stairway was the annual fan fav for the top countdowns. I think BR has grown in popularity over the last 20 years. So I would ponder if the question should read... "Which song has aged better?"

That being said... my vote is for Stairway. Especially the live version on the TSRTS album (Not movie).
