It's time to listen to THE HU. Folk mongolian music.
« on: June 01, 2020, 11:48:37 AM »
So, after Genghis Khan, here's someone else coming out of Mongolia and trying to go everywhere, but not with a horde behind their back but with music!

Have you stumbled upon them upon YouTube yet? they play folk / "rock" music using traditional instruments as well as the "throat singing" typical of Mongolia. The result is weird, interesting and catchy.

The song Wolf Totem really helps to understand what throat singing sounds like:

But you can find also catchier songs like Yuve Yuve Yu:

They also had some collaborations with international artists, out of the three "remixes" they've done, for me the best one is the one featuring Lzzy Hale of Halestorm, with the song "Song of Women":

Maybe they're not here to change the music world, but as something left field never really heard before in case someone has run out of things to listen to, they're worth a listening, they have only one album out anyway.
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

Love them so much. Less keen on their collaborations with English speaking singers, but their album is utterly fantastic.

Yep, saw them in the OC, last year, here was my thoughts below.  Liked their set and other people around me really them as well.  I think they have a good future ahead.  I really liked the remix of Wolf Totem with Papa Roach's Jacoby Shaddix.  I think it was the best of the 3 songs they did with english-speaking singers.

What you didn't know you needed: their cover of Metallica's Sad But True.

Badass cover and video, they did not just cover the song, they incorporated in their own style.

Best comment on the video: "If these guys existed in Genghis Khan's time they would have been like the flaming guitar dude from Mad Max: Fury Road."  :lol

It was cool but I wish it was a little less like the original. Maybe slower and less metal?

Also they tuned it up a half step which is odd.
