New James LaBrie solo album on the way...

Started tracking a new solo album. This is not with Matt Guillory and company. That will happen but not at this point in time. This album is with another fine musician from Scotland.
I’ll reveal his identity soon enough. We’re both very psyched with the tunes. Stay tuned.

Huh, wonder how he will sound without Matt. The Pirate and his first mate released some solid albums together.

Paul Logue perhaps?

He did sing on Eden's Curse Trinity album, so he could be an option.

Really interesting to see how this will turn out.
It sounds like, "ruk, ruk, ruk, ruk, ruk." Instead of the more pleasing kick drum sound of, "gzarruk, gzarruk, gzarruk, gzarruk."

As much as I bag on JLB, his albums with Matt have been fantastic. They are auto-buys. This one I will need some samples first.

I thought an album with Matt was in the works some time ago?  Unless this is an impulse COVID type project?

This should be interesting. Working with someone new always brings out different qualities in a musician. I will check this out first before buying.

+1 on the "James and Matt together are a winning team that never missed a beat" bandwagon.

Having said that, if a new writer means a new style, why not? as I just said I LOVE the James / Matt team, but we know the style and we know what to expect. Something different might be cool and I'm all for James doing any kind of experiment he wants.

I actually hope it's a mellow, quiet or acoustic album. I think James' voice sounds fantastic in quieter songs. His recent live performances of songs like Wait For Sleep were great.

Knowing Eden's Curse quite well, I hope it's not some poppy AOR type acoustic shit.

I'd be well happy with some poppy AOR shit, I expect. :lol So fingers crossed for that! I'd love more stripped back feels.

I've tried his last solo album a few times and it does absolutely nothing for me. That kind of melodic nu-metal with a vocal combo of generic barking is a stylistic choice I dislike very much.

Logue was my first thought too. The last album Eden's Curse released was fantastic, it's a real shame they split up.

Although if this is going to be an acoustic album as someone suggested, then it doesn't hold much interest for me sadly.

I'm always up for more JLB solo albums. Shame the one with Matt doesn't come first, but I'm happy as long as they;re together and planning to release one eventually.

Really interested to see what's this about. I'm fine with an acoustic album if the songs are good.
Mostly curious about the state of James' voice, and an acoustic album with less high notes might be more manageable for him.

I loved all their albums bar their last one.  I thought it was shithouse.  Had no idea they split up though.

As far as I'm concerned Matt Guillory is 5x more important to a James LaBrie solo album than James LaBrie, so while I'm excited to hear whatever this is, Matt's lack of involvement takes some wind out of my sails.

Thanks. That's what I was looking for. So it's pretty much confirmed that the guy from Eden's Curse and JLB are recording. Pretty cool!

Interesting, but I'm not so keen on the idea of a completely acoustic record. But I will surely check it out, whatever it is.

I'm not sure I'd agree with the "importance" split, but I love the JLB+Matt Guillory collaborations more than any other JLB side projects, so I agree that I am less excited for this release.

I think both Matt and James have said they would be doing the next album in a different style to change it up a little - so you might end up with two things you like!

This is some kind of misunderstanding. And I think James didn't express it well either.

James is going to record solo album with Matt. I've talked with Matt via Facebook. He says he is done with songwriting but says they wait the right time to produce in the studio. What James says here is not actually his solo album. This is a kind of mixed acustic and rock album by a Scotland musician with James vocals on it.

So just to be clear: James is going to release solo album with Matt again.

Yeah, I see it that it's because Him and Matt can't work how they want to on the solo album, so that's put on hold for the time being.

This new album sounds pretty interesting, if it is a calmer album. I like his soft vocals.
