If Paul was never responsible for the classics, he always brought a nice, different flavor to UFO’s sound. According to Wikipedia, the songs that he wrote/co-wrote (a lot of them between my favorites hidden gems...much respect):

Just another suicide
Aint no Baby
Looking out for n.1
Looking out for n. 1(reprise)
You don't fool me
Born to lose
Take it or leave it
Dream the dream
The spark that is us
Sympathy
Black and blue
Kingstom town
On the waterfront
Forsaken
Villains & Thieves
Fight night
Year of the gun
The fear
The real deal
King of the hill
"one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind." (RIP Neil Armstrong)

My understanding is that he had to forgo some writing credits due to a prior publishing contract. Apparently One More For The Rodeo is also a Paul Paymond track.

Got my MSG albums today. Going to try to listen to at least Tales tonight, hopefully.

 :metal

Good lord. Just finished Tales. I almost say I need a cigarette, if I smoked. 57 minutes of non-stop rock. Way too much to absorb with one listen, but yeah, this is a keeper. I need a nap after that.

Michael Schenker's Temple Of Rock began as Schenker, Pete Way, Herman Rarebell, and German singer Michael Voss joined together in a project called Strangers In The Night. They even had a song and video, which I posted here years ago when it came out.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4C4kWDLzHLE

Even though the song was weak, and the video was creepy, I was excited for this album.

Honestly, this album blows.

One of the best songs, When The Devil Knows You're Dead, is sung by Doogie White. It was a sign of things to come.

Unfortunately there's no full album link on Spotify or Youtube. That's fine, it's for informational purposes anyway.

But do check out the live album!

Live In Europe

Into The Arena
Armed And Ready
Lovedrive
Another Piece Of Meat
Hanging On
Cry For The Nations
Let Sleeping Dogs Lie
Coast To Coast
Assault Attack
Before The Devil Knows You're Dead
Lights Out
On And On
Let It Roll
Shoot Shoot
Rock You Like A Hurricane
Rock Bottom
Holiday
Blackout
Doctor Doctor

The band would tour with Doogie White handling vocals. Michael Voss did participate, but it's pretty much all Doogie. The live band not includes Rarebell, but also former Scorps bassist Francis Buchholz. As you can see, they also run through some Scorps classics.

This is a great album.

Here is the footage:

The next Temple Of Rock album, however, is one of Schenker's best.

I will check that studio album but I purchased the live DVD a few weeks back and it's fucking awesome.  Great performance and setlist and just an enjoyable show.  I have the CD on the way also.  Do check out this live release.

This also makes me want to go back and check out Lovedrive as all songs represented here kick ass.

I just realized the Strangers Deluxe set is released this Friday. Just checked Amazon and it still shows that they are have no idea on the delivery date. This scares me a bit. It has one of those 'goes into back-order on release day with no telling on when/if you'll ever get it from them' kind of thing. I realize it is an import, but I figured they'd have it together by now.

Just finished In The Midst Of Beauty. I really enjoyed it. I actually appreciated Barden for staying within himself and not straining. I really had no issues with his performance and found the whole record really enjoyable. Another solid purchase for me.

I know I am in the minority with that.

Love Drive and Animal Magnetism are the only two Scorpion albums I still occasionally listen to. Great records...just don't pay attention to the lyrics.
"Owners of dogs will have noticed that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they will think you are God. Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realize that, if you provide them with food and water and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are God.” — Christopher Hitchens

Well, I'm with you on that.  I'm not looking for vocal histrionics, and that album is a good listen.

Compare that to the "Saturday Night" video that Tim linked to...  Ugh.  The song is AWESOME.... for the 12 seconds that Michael is soloing, but the fake cheering in the back ,and the vocals....  I can't imagine bagging on Gary Barden and liking some of the lesser known singers that Michael has used in his career.  I'll take Gary under water over Michael Voss.

Well, I'm sure (and for the record, the "1,000" was facetious).   I just know I WANTED to hear The Monkey Puzzle and The Visitor, and even with effort it was hard to do (almost impossible to do with the MSG stuff).   I would be fine if I never hear Radiohead again, and yet they pop up at all hours of the day.   :tdwn

I'm liking The Visitor a lot.   WAY different than I expected.  I have to admit I gave Vinnie short shrift.  I saw him live (open for Rush, I'm pretty sure) and he's excellent, but not Michael Schenker, so I sort of had no interest in Phil singing over what I EXPECTED Vinnie to sound like.  But it's better than I thought; there's real grit there, and he complements Phil well (not as well as Paul and Michael do, but still).   I'm going to give this a couple more spins, so I'm not ready for a song-by-song, but except for a few moments (I wasn't crazy about the solo to "Stop Breaking Down"; it was a shade too "widdly-widdly") it's good.

As you say, he does compliment Phil's old man voice really well. You also mention his solo in Stop Breaking Down. I think that's a great solo, my man.
Also, what he is playing in the chorus is downright luscious.

I did try Temple of Rock when it came out and thought it was shite.

Not seen that dvd but I did watch a later one on Amazon last week which was ok. Similar set list with a couple of extra Temple songs from the next one maybe? It was Dougie all the way through.
