I like toast and hot food in general so I've got nothing against toasting banana bread, but honestly, I've never thought to do it.  Personally I like it cold without butter, good banana bread can be enjoyed without anything extra IMO.  Especially when it's a really soft banana bread that just melts in your mouth without any extra heat needed.  I should try toasting it next time (it's rare I even eat it) and I may really like it that way better.

Why would it be cold?  The jingle.ladies bake about 60-80 mini-loaves every December baking season.  When we take 'em out of the freezer, they never last more than 2 days.  Tops.  Just leave it on the counter, and it stays beautifully moist and fresh after thawing out.

In food terms not hot is cold. In my case I just want it heated to something warmer than room temperature. I don't need it Maillard'ed or anything. I just want it to have that fresh out of the oven quality.

I agree with Cram, though. No butter necessary.

I don't know but it's one of those things that I'm really out of step with.   I really don't get it, beyond a cheap excuse for a party, but they seem to be more important than that.  I'm only half joking, but it's things like that that make me feel... on a different wavelength.  It seems to be happening more and more these days.
