Me not being on social media and thus not having to see that meme. If I wasn't on this forum I never would have seen it at all.

That was kinda funny.  Though my spidey senses are tingling that it's an attempt of the station to go viral.  If they didn't want this to air, they'd cut away instantly.  "Shannon" didn't seem overly surprised or shocked with his reporting.

Luckily I live alone and I have one of those loo seats that stops a few cm before it hits the porcelain and then gradually eases itself down.

Also the bathroom light also turns the extractor fan on - so instead of getting blasted by LIGHT and SOUND at 3 am when i'm taking a leak

I have an LED on the cistern that is just bright enough to see what im doing  ;D ;D

This cracked me up..

https://youtu.be/nAiE9fJbVd4?t=1

having worked in small market tv for 12 years I can tell you this is every on-airs talent dream. I still shake my head when the local news puts someone outside to show us it’s snowing, in winter, in Wisconsin.

And of course they tag it with something stupid like “Breaking News” or “First Warn”.

There's a woman here in CT who mainly does the weekend weather.  I'm not really a fan; I always get the impression she's waiting for the breakout gig somewhere else, and this is just a job (she has a modeling website).  Most of the weatherpeople on the main state news channels are either way into it nerds, or gay men - and this isn't meant to be judgmental; something like 60% of the weathermen in our state are out gay men - with a sort of local "Al Roker" activist thing where they do the weather and then get involved in community activities and such.  There is some overlap.

Anyway, she sticks out like a sore thumb.  She's not a gay man, she's not a weather nerd; but lately she's been doing these field pieces lately on the late edition of the news; out at the accident scene, out at the fire, that kind of thing, and I'm curious if that's a step UP, or a step DOWN in her network news ladder climb.

I'm guessing that while it might be the dream, people probably also recognize that it's not only a job-ender, which is of course the expectation, but also a career-ender. You can always quit and find another job, but if you go off your nut on-air, you're probably so toxic you glow in the dark.

And here's what it looks like when it really happens. This is not Shannon making quips about it. This is a deer in the headlights.

If you listen closely, you can hear the gears grinding in her mind ... "what the fuck am I supposed to do now?"

If you listen closely, you can hear the gears grinding in her mind ... "what the fuck am I supposed to do now?"

I'm quite certain it's her producer screaming instructions in her ear which is why she's pausing to hear them and also processing what just happened and how to proceed.

My first thought was that the producer would be yelling in my ear to "STOP LAUGHING, ASSHOLE! YOU'RE ON THE AIR! STOP LAUGHING!"

I was directing a newscast one night and the anchor was suppose to say “picking up the pieces” but said “picking up the penis” instead. The control room was dying but I knew I had to keep things on track. I was in the ears of the floor crew telling them if you’re laughing turn around and stay out of sight. Luckily we made it to commercial without any issues.

 ;D That last one.

One of many many reasons i'm quite happy being single.

Hmmm...the latter is a bad 80s pop song by a guy who can't sing.  The former is an abomination to music by a guy who is a pretty good singer.  Fortunately, I don't think I've heard either of them in more than 20 years.

That said, the first two of the last batch of memes were the best.

I don't care for his voice at all but I don't think I'd say he "can't sing" - clearly he can and does sing and has been extremely successful with it.

As for the Billy Joel song "We Didn't Start The Fire" being an "abomination" Um, OK  :lol

This is literally the first time i've ever heard anyone suggest Springsteen is a poor singer.

Now - Dave Mustaine on the other hand. Pure shite.

There's a clip on youtube where that gal talks about how she became "overly obsessive girlfriend" or whatever her thing is. Fascinating how stuff like that happens.

Well...I would assume it to be obvious that "he can't sing" means "I think his singing sucks."

Having seen Billy Joel and Bruce in excess of five times each (the latter in an arena, a stadium AND a small theater) neither one of them belongs in the "can't sing" category.
