Dude, just roll with it. The internet and its customs are always evolving. At one point, we all loved music on our Myspace page, and then everyone suddenly started hating it. Rickrolling was a thing for a time. Autotuning the the news was a thing for a while. Remember the planking craze and rampant pyramid scheme phase? That rapid creation and distribution of memes is a new concept for the world as a whole, and the norms of how we make and share such content has never been defined, nor should it. There is clearly a large number of people that like the having memes come and go with the force of a thousand suns rather than just recycling the "classics".
Personally, I love the current meme life cycle. The only thing that made the ending of Game of Thrones semi-bearable was the meme machine.
Theres a word for that...it's called Trends. And Social Media is loaded with these. Also, almost forgot about the Challenges. Now tell me people are not gullible to follow and do what someone else does, just because they said challenge.
Like those people eating Tide Pods.
I see Memes as a form of Instant Comedy and Instant Gratification.
And us Natives had a ball with old man Bernie, making fun of him by putting on Pendleton Blankets and making fun of it in our own way. Related to our culture. And I find those ones funny, because I can relate. I even made a response joke, about Debbie Haaland giving him her Shawl. That was before people started actually putting those ideas into action. I wish people would put that effort into something, more useful.
But eh, it serves it's purpose and just ignore it, do something else and it'll go away.
