Don't be silly. Of course when I work in the yard or inclement weather, I leave the shoes on a mat we have.  I switch sneakers if that happens. I do bring the clean pair to the room where I get dressed.

When it's like today,  I walk in with my sneakers. No dirt, no issues.

This was the biggest shock to me when I was a kid was going to friends homes and seeing them wear shoes inside.

It's makes it rough, though.  I mean, I'm a sock-shoe-sock-shoe guy, so I put on one sock, go downstairs and grab a shoe, put it on, hop on one foot back upstairs to put the other sock on, hop back downstairs again, put on the other shoe, then I have to crawl on my hands and knees (being careful not to let my shoes touch the floor) to grab my coat, keys, whatever.  It's a hassle because I can't reach them very well at that point.

I'm thinking of switching to sock-sock-shoe-shoe.

And even though I said it, we wear shoes in the house.  I sometimes take my sneakers off in the garage if they're wet or something, but we're not that disciplined in that way.   I do like wearing slippers, though, so I often switch when I can.
