Nowadays, I like all three you mentioned, but during my childhood they definitely were Steffi Graf (who was born in my home town btw), John McEnroe and Björn Borg.

You know, this is actually a fairly good thread!

I'll say Federer for me. He's the first tennis player I remember from my childhood and it's always a blast to watch him. He's probably the first thing that comes to my mind when I think about tennis.

I have nothing but immense respect for all three though.

I'm puzzled why "the big three" are the number 1, number 2 and number 22 ranked players....

My vote goes to Roger without even thinking of it. Rafa and Nole are fantastic players, and in certain aspects they are better than Roger. However neither of them plays the game with as much aesthetic beauty as Roger does. It is a joy to watch him play, even when he does things wrong.
I've always seen Rafa as the energy guy, Roger as the high skill guy and Nole as a mix of both.

I'm guessing WildRanger is using this list to decide the "Big Three".

Of that group, Federer.

But for me - a casual, not die-hard tennis fan - the five greatest men's players of all time are:

Federer
Borg
Lendl
Connors
McEnroe

My favorite is McEnroe; the best is perhaps Federer or Lendl.

Pretty much this. Really wish they weren't all on the scene at the same time though, so Murray could maybe have won a bit more!  :'(

Federer is a pleasure to watch and, like virtuosos do, makes it look "easy".

Not a diehard tennis fan though.

What I really enjoy is listening to women's tennis.

The last decade plus these three have won

20(Federer), 19(Nadal) & 17(Djokovic) Championships with Djokovic only to win the Grand Slam.

To everyone questioning the term "big three", it's literally how they're referred in the modern tennis world on pretty much most of the discussion platforms.

None of them. They are all dicks.

- Every other professional male tennis player.

The stats on these three guys are insane. Since 2003, they have won 56 of the 69 grand slam events (81%). In that same time period, in which Federer won 20, Rafa won 19, and Novak won 17, no other player won more than 3 (Murray and Wawrinka). That is nuts.

Andy Murray!

Of those though it's Roger - silky smooth.

Of all time? Agassi.

Oh it has to be Federer. The factual GOAT now, and forever the GOAT in my heart as well.

As a Serb, it really pissed me off how people in my country who started watching tennis when Đoković came into power expected all of us to drop supporting our other favorite tennis players and start supporting him instead, or otherwise we're "hipsters". I'm sorry y'all, but in the past ~15 years I must have cheered against him over a hundred times, because there's at least dozen players I prefer to good ol' Nole. Plus, I've been more exposed to his weird woo-woo personal views than the average member of the English-speaking public over the years.

Who does the OP think is the best, and why?

If it was Djokovic....well, that axehat won't be playing anytime soon, and only has himself to blame.

I chose R-Fed, he's just so cool, but they're all great.

It's funny that I'd love to play against him or ND, but *not* Nadal.  He scares the crap out of me.  It's like "man, I just hit that winner so perfectly and the point is all mine---ah, shit, he ran it down".  He just gets to everything it seems.

It's very close between Federer and Nadal for me, but I think Federer is ultimately my favorite. Fun fact - His mom is South African, which is where my family is from, so that's kind of cool.

As far as which player is the best... I think it's probably Djokovic. He's behind in grand slams right now but only by a few, and he's the youngest of the bunch. I could see him shattering Federer's record, but you never know.

I think he's an axehat too, but the ultimate blame lies in the governments of the two countries that allowed this bullshit to even be organized in the first place. Serbia in particular was actively hiding the numbers of the infected and pretending everything was fine so that we could have general elections: https://balkaninsight.com/2020/06/22/serbia-under-reported-covid-19-deaths-and-infections-data-shows/
