No, not good for me! It was You've Got Another Thing Coming so it wasn't all terrible, I stopped it before the bad singer came in.

Honestly, I don't know how you can like power metal and not at least like Painkiller. It's pretty much pure proto power metal.

Well, but honestly that's like asking how I can like Toto but not like The Beatles. Just 'cause they came earlier doesn't mean I gotta like 'em. IMO Judas Priest has awful lyrics and their image has never been appealing to me, their whole 'leather and metal' schtick is cornier than dragons and magic to me, honestly. And they have thin, forgettable riffs and a terrible singer. One of my least favorite metal bands ever, one of the only few I actively dislike.

Also I rag on so much power metal I have friends who are convinced I'm a prog metal snob which is even funnier because I bag on prog metal all the time. Good power metal is really fucking good, but the vast majority of it is terrible and even worse than 80s hair metal.

I'll have first impressions up probably this afternoon. I've been slammed with work this morning

I don't care for the Beatles either, so we agree on that. Kinda questioning my decision to send you a bunch of Judas Priest songs now though.

A couple people sent me Judas Priest songs in a past roulette despite me issuing a dire warning against doing so. They scored miserably, as predicted, the worst scores of the roulette if I remember correctly.

The Beatles have lots of good tunes. They also have a bunch of crap

I LIKE Judas Priest (first concert ever!) but I understand the criticisms.  There is as much in the catalogue I don't like as that which I do.   I recognize that it's an odd position for an Iron Maiden or Kiss fan to take, but I just find Priest so... cartoon-y and, honestly, a little fake.   I think Priest wanted their cake and to eat it too; they wanted the metal cred of Maiden, and the commercial success of a Rainbow or Kiss, and so started walking the line.  For all the pomp of Maiden, they never really adopted the sort of "mettle" (because that's how Rob pronounces it) approach.  The music was what it was, and if they wanted to do a 15 minute epic, or a ballad, they did.  I think Priest was more calculating in that way.

It bugged me a - A LOT - that Priest always talked about "their fans", but Maiden and Kiss always seemed, in their own way, more respectful of their fans.  Sure, Kiss fleeced their catalogue like pros, but there isn't a major band that is as accessible as Kiss, and Maiden is as good as any band at being responsible to their catalogue and giving their fans an opportunity to see all facets of the band, warts and all.

It also bugged me - A LOT - that Maiden and even Kiss would put out live stuff and it was either a complete show or they told you where the material came from.  There are few full shows from Priest, and even the stuff that was so obvious was passed off as "a live track from one of our many world tours over the years".  I thought that was cheesy.

The TAC rule, as it's known, also in effect in ariich's roulette, applies to mine as well, just in case you still want to use it. You just have to inform me that you want to use Toby Fox or Megalovania specifically in a future round, before round 3's results, but if you do, you have to use it when the time comes. Your choice, you can gamble and reserve it before you see how it does, or you can sit it out  :corn

I was thinking the same thing.  ;)

Chad, see if you can find the episode of Later... with Jools Holland where DD do the live version of "Wild Boys".  WOW.   I think it slays, and it's a fine example of how you don't have to play "metal" to be "heavy" - or at least "powerful".
