So most of my favorite game music comes from the SNES/N64/GameBoy era of music, almost entirely from Nintendo system games. It's no coincidence that all of these are among my very favorite games ever made too.
Absolute all-time greatest game soundtracks imo, still listen to all of these today:
- Snowboard Kids 1 & 2
- Chrono Trigger
- literally any Zelda game (specifically Ocarina, Majora, Wind Waker, Breath of the Wild, Oracles, and Link's Awakening)
- Golden Sun 1 & 2 (Motoi Sakuraba

)
- Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 (Sakuraba again

)
- Pokemon Red/Blue, Gold/Silver, and Ruby/Sapphire
- Harvest Moon 64
- Quest 64 (yes, I am serious)
- Super Mario World, Mario 64, Mario Sunshine
- all of the first 10 FFs but specifically 1, 2, 6, 9, and 10
- Donkey Kong Country (not 2, not 3 - the original)
- F-Zero GX
- Xenoblade Chronicles 2
- Street Fighter II
- Cave Story
- Maple Story
- Banjo-Kazooie
- The Last Remnant
So, most PlayStation games... not familiar with the soundtracks, even if I've played the games (and I've played a lot of them). Ditto for Microsoft. There are a lot of PS RPGs out there, even by my favorite composers, that I've never played, or whose music I just don't remember for one reason or another, maybe I played through them with headphones on listening to Toto
