9. What a wonderful voice.
14. Best lyrics of the round and it's not even close
15. I think I grew a mullet and a taste for Bud Light listening to this, but I'm not complaining, he's very fun to listen to
18. This is better than the other stuff I've heard from this artist!

My guesses for me.

The Walrus

Bravely Default 2 is coming to the Switch so I'll finally be able to play that, at least :2metal:

Related: Octopath Traveler's soundtrack is amazing omg. I have gripes with that game but the visuals and soundtrack are incredible

Stadler - first pick was correct, 9 it is.

I'm claiming 14 as mine, whether you agree or not.

Now that's the confidence I like to see :lol lucky for you, you at least got one of the numbers right...

Well I'm guessing it's not 1, so must be 4 (which makes sense).

Octopath Traveler is kinda Bravely Default lite, for what that's worth. The combat systems are pretty similar but Bravely Default actively encourages you to break the game with ridiculous class synergies and strategies, and wipes the floor with you if you don't.  :lol

Even the battle music for Bravely Default is like the battle music from Octopath on steroids, at least in some ways.  :metal

Shadow Ninja 2.0

I like Octopath Traveller a lot, although I do skip through all of the story stuff since it's the most stereotypical RPG plot possible with nothing at all to distinguish it.

The Walrus

Not 12, king!

Yeah, Shadow, I was so disappointed with OT's story. Hell, it's not even like it's there. I actually never even finished the game. I went through all 8 characters' stories but after chapter 2 for most of them I just did not care because, you're right, it's all so stereotypical and nothing unique about it. Which is a shame because the demo was so promising and the characters had a lot of potential. If the story and characters were better, I would've kept my copy - that would've made it an amazing game, which is a shame because pretty much everything else about it rocks imo. Would be nice if they made a sequel, or, y'know... just did FF6 remade in that style  :lol

TAC

Oh, okay. I was about to say, is there a prize for getting a higher score from TAC than from you? :lol

Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

Aw, you didn't do the secret final boss? That's by far the most memorable experience I had with that game because of how fucking hard it was. I'm pretty sure the fight where I beat it lasted almost two whole hours.

Shadow Ninja 2.0

I love Fire Emblem so the gameplay is really right up my alley, but I figured out pretty quick the story stuff was just wasting my time. The music really is amazing though.

btw, "weird metal" is actually a great way of describing Ulver's The Marriage Of Heaven And Hell and parts of Blood Inside :lol

The Walrus

Wow, seems like I might have made them too obvious  :tup

Nope, never did that boss in OT. I think I got to the end of chapter 4 in most of the characters and just stopped when I realized none of their arcs were ever going to intersect or develop into something bigger, which was my initial draw to the game's story in the first place.

Stadler

Well, for mine, I don't think it was "obvious" in the sense of how you wrote your impression, but "obvious" in the sense of the impression itself.  There's a reason that Robert Plant, Freddie Mercury, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, among others, have cited him as a defining aspect of their maturity as an artist.

He turned into a joke at the end, because of his persona and his manner of death, but the degree of his celebrity and accomplishment shouldn't be understated.   He's one of those singular figures that, regardless of whether you like his music or not, it's hard to deny that the landscape of modern music would look very different if he had never walked into Sun Studios back in '53.

I meant the former, indeed :lol which is incidentally my second favourite Ulver album. Love that thing :)

I mean it's not 1, I don't do weed so I can't really say if it's 2 or 3, 5 makes me feel like TAC (wtf are all those words), I don't remember a soundtrack from any of Sonic the Hedgehog games, the lyrics are just CHILL CHILL CHILL CHILL CHILL it's the gravity of love so I guess maybe 14? Only know Bad Romance and a few other songs from Lady Gaga so that shouldn't be it and then there's the Toto comment and I don't like Toto at all so :P

Oh and then maybe it's 16 but the tracks I sent weren't very dancing-friendly, the band has lots of dancing-oriented stuff but those weren't it

I'll throw you a bone, it's 5. I'm surprised Backstreet Boys didn't give it away. Seven Lives  :lol Seriously, go to about 1:45 in that song and go to 2:12 in this video. Fucking hilarious. https://youtu.be/5l3PS9fSs4c

seems like it can only be 2, 3, or 14 for me at this point

I have no idea what/who Backstreet Boys are. :lol But yeah I can see the similarity and how the music aligns with the dance. :lol

I mean I think I've heard the name but I don't know if it's a band and if it's a band which it apparently is, I don't know what kind of band it is.

It's possible when you live in Russia and aren't interested in mainstream stuff I guess. Hey, I can finally identify with Tim!

Yeah, I mean, I know it's way different in other countries, but that just cracks me up because they're one of the biggest groups of all time, they lit the world on fire at the end of the 90s/early 2000s.

"The Backstreet Boys have sold over 100 million records worldwide,[7] making them the best-selling boy band of all time, and one of the world's best-selling music artists. They are the first group since Led Zeppelin to have their first ten albums reach the top 10 on the Billboard 200,[6] and the only boy band to do so. "

Tim... YOU HAVE A SUCCESSOR!!

Just busting balls, Ev  :lol

Evermind

Yeah I just asked a few of my friends and they seem to all know them, so I guess it's just me. Well damn. :lol

I've just read up on Backstreet Boys btw and apparently their first Russian concerts were in 2014. End of 90s/beginning or 2000s? I was like 7 years old and we were poor af. I'm not even sure we owned a TV back then.

I legit can't name even one song by them. :lol

Not even "I want It That Way?"

If you were thrown off a boat in the ocean you would hear that song first in 1999 before hitting the water.

My mind is blown. I Want It That Way is a fucking great song. Go check it out Ruslan!  :lol

ariich

No no no that is not the song - if you only listen to one song it needs to be Everybody (Backstreet's Back).

But yeah they were literally the only 90s boy band I ever liked at all.
