How long we got?  I've got to think about this a bit.

Since it's the final round it doesn't matter too much although I would like to have most (if not all) subs by the end of the week so I can listen to a bunch of them over the weekend, but I don't mind waiting for a few late senders if I have to. I'd rather people take time to pick out the best possible music (according to them) :)

You know who's really full of shit? Lin-Manuel Miranda.  :lol

Oh c'mon... only one song featured him prominently.  I tried to showcase the performers who are actually talented.

Yay for ABBA technically winning a roulette round! (and old school musical theatre beating new fad musical theatre. Joking, judgement on Hamilton is suspended until I see it live.)

Glad you liked it, and should you wish to dig in, I highly recommend the London edition over the Broadway one (which has the procession of numbers screwed up, silly variations in plot, and less stellar singing).

Sending shortly, and may the most lead-free fella win.

Sacul

Well thought they'd grow on you but that's fair :lol. You'd probably only dig their first album, Blue Lines. I love Mezzanine but might be too dark and uneventful for you.

Opposite case for me, I quite enjoy Mezzanine and wanted to check another album of theirs out, so I tried Blue Lines and nope'd the fuck out after a few tracks. :lol

wolfking

Nice score.

And, nope, wouldn't have a clue where to start with Owl Eyes.  :lol

HOF

This seems like an appropriate place to leave this. Nice interview with Kip Winger about his classical compositions, influences, and the transition from rock/metal guy to classical composer. He has his first symphony written but the debut was delayed by Covid. Also working on a violin concerto. He's a serious composer but still does Winger and solo stuff too.

This thread is hilarious, I probably need to take part in more roulettes after only doing the one run by TAC. I just don't listen to that much music as before and the range of submissions here are insane. I should probably just host one to get some new music to listen to..

It is, and I must say that you really get out what you put in.

Of course, you could always do a mini one to get some sort of process down.

Doesn't have to be complicated mate.  Get some songs in and rank 'em.  Easy.

Faizoff, a couple things to keep in mind..

How much time do you have to dedicate to it?

If you limit it to 8 players, and one song per round, you're looking at an hour's worth of music. Do you have an hour per day to dedicate to it, and turn around a round in a week?

True, but still need to have a plan for scoring and ranking.

wolfking

It's all subjective mate.  If you don't want a scoring system then take an approach Chad did and simply rank them best to worst maybe giving each a score 1-8.

Sure thing, but that can be a simple plan. If you don't want to listen to too much music, you can keep it to single-song submissions, and if you want to keep it super simple you can just score each song out of 5/10/whatever and add up the scores.

Elite

I avoided giving songs a score from x/10 in all of my roulettes and simply stack ranked them (in various ways). Best song of the round gets the most points, followed by the next etc. You can change this up as well, to not have scores ranging from 1-10, for instance by giving the best song 5 point, the two next ones 4 points both etc. Keeps it a bit more exciting.

I used methods like this in all four roulettes I've ran over the past years, because I can't get myself to give a score based on x/10 /5 /whatever. I feel like too much randomness comes into place there and I would make it too difficult for myself, since my scores would have to reflect on the round I score them in, but also on previous rounds - i.e. a 9 in round 1 would have to be a 'better' song than an 8,8 in round 7 (no offence meant to any and all roulette hosts who do this though!), whereas with stack ranking, you're just comparing the songs to the other songs in the round based on how you feel about them at that time.

Don't apologize, faizoff! It would be killer if you ran one. I've been thinking about taking a break from roulettes once mine is finished but maybe I'd play. I have an endless amount of artists to choose from :)

The Walrus

So goes the pattern, the roulette threads slowly fizzle away in activity as they approach the end. Well, I still need 8 submissions. No rush, final round and all, but just putting it out there. Would like to have them by the end of Sunday but I know people are busy so I will get started on what I have

Mine was sent ahead a while back if you're still waiting for it.
