What the fuck? This roulette rules  :lol

A couple artists from these 2 rounds have been reserved for future rounds, but if you didn't lock them in before results, you can't use 'em.

If you're going to dig in, try to find some of Vince Gill's instrumental work; that dude is a MONSTER guitar player.  I mean, top of the line (he's done a TON of sessions in Nashville, and that says something).  I would check out all of Joe Jackson's "Night And Day" (from which Steppin' Out is taken).

Elvis is tough because his catalogue is a holy mess; studio albums, compilations, live stuff.  I would seek out the '70's "Walk A Mile In My Shoes" box set, if you like what I sent you.  After that, "Moody Blue" and "Elvis Country" are solid.

Just suggestions.  TAC can dig in to these as well.  :)

So I just checked, and, uh, you are one of the two who haven't sent.

I opened with my favourite tune because I just wanted to make sure the quality of The Weeknd got to you before any potential bias (though knowing your tastes, I don't think you're one to write off music because it's too 'radio-friendly' at all). I think After Hours is one of my top 3 albums of this year, maybe even #1. Definitely give it a listen!

By the way, I moved around the next two artists in my playlist (and will probably still swap out one song on the artist that is no longer the next one up), please note. :) Will continue making these adjustments before listening starts

Awesome, guys!

Since The Weeknd's new album is from 2020 and I'm ravenously devouring 2020 releases and all these songs are on it, I'm putting that on this afternoon. I'm very excited!

Crow

excited to underperform for this entire roulette btw  :metal
i liked that new The Weeknd album but i didn't really love it. i've never thought his voice was the greatest and while the production is pretty consistently good not a lot of the songs did that much for me

Sacul

Oh nice, expected a little more but that will do :metal. Might send you some vidya music.

Buddyhunter1

Stop copying me, everyone. I'm going to start tanking after this next round, anyways. :P

Sacul

Katt just confirmed me some of my fav vidya music is not banned :D

Btw, Katt, check out the track Planisphere. A bit long but it's a massive banger.

wolfking

Nice, Touch the Fire is a great song.

I'm off to work Katt, so I probably won't be back online for about 36 hours.  If I get some time at work I'll try and think of something and log on but not likely.

The Walrus

No problem Kade. Sacul, I checked out Planisphere, "a bit long" is an understatement, but it's really cool.

Train, I listened to The Weeknd's new album this afternoon and it was fantastic. Seriously, amazing album, thank you for the heads up. I think it was on a friend's list back in March, but I had so many records to listen to for the middle of March that I probably skipped right past it and didn't even consider listening to it. Damn.

There's already been sooooo much good stuff sent, man, I can't wait to see what the rest of the roulette brings. Literally every submission has something I at least enjoy enough to save to my 'favorites' playlist, which has evolved from mostly metal into just a chaotic melting pot of everything under the sun in the last couple years.

It was interesting that Shadow and I chose to feature different CHVRCHES albums alongside their debut (he chose songs from their second, I chose from their third). It took me a while to fully appreciate the third but I love it now, it might even be my favourite, so I went with it to show how the band had matured since the first. However, I had a feeling the Ninja would come out ahead in the scores because everyone else seems to prefer album two over album three.

I'll have a chance to listen to some stuff in a few hours, and finalise the next submission.

I just haven't really listened to it enough to know any of the songs outside of Graffiti. My thoughts on the album as a whole when I listened through was about the same as the other two; some songs I thought were great, others that were good, and a few I didn't really care for. I haven't gone back through it much like I have with the other two yet.

Nice  :metal I love the synthier/dreamier approach on the new one. I considered sending Starboy (title track on previous album) but it's definitely a different vibe. That album is as catchy as the new one if not catchier, but not as.. pleasant? It has a bit more of a 'club music' vibe that I'm not that into. But the title track is pretty cool (featuring Daft Punk)

It's in my top 3 of the year right now. My top 2 are probably O'Brother and Regarde Les Hommes Tomber but I can't send those in this roulette :lol

Crow

i haven't listened to any weeknd albums in full except the new one but there's some cool darker stuff that was surprisingly popular in the states (particularly would recommend the hills as it's as close to metal as you'll ever get in a genre like r&b lol)

Evermind

Yeah I'm good with that, sending in a few minutes
Quote from: Train of Naught on May 28, 2020, 10:57:25 PMThis first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Katt, I'm back to work and a little busy with the whole "restart a company" mess.

Sending tonight.

Podaar

Sent. A week ago.  :)

Oh, and I'm pretty pleased with the score you gave Vince Gill. I never expected it to knock you over, but it's fun that you were able to get some enjoyment from it.
