Talent show from Chile.
I wish U.S. talent shows would showcase songs like this.

He does a pretty good job. Sounds a lot like James. :tup

The jury is all "what kind of hard rock is this?" and the audience decides to clap along with all the 6/4s and 5/4s in the song  :lol

Anyway this dude did a very good job, although it reminded me again how hard it is to cover a James LaBrie song.

Excellent job, and song choice  :tup

How strange (and awesome) it is to see a song like this being performed on an "American Idol" type show!

The long-haired judge seemed way into it (and the way he was drumming along in a couple places made it seem like he knew the song).  The older guy seemed disinterested, and the female judge seemed utterly lost.

Well, that one definitely went over better than this one:

As a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

That was damn awful!  I couldn't even recognize the song he (she?) was "singing."  And where was the music?  Was this just an a capella thing?

Stupid question here, but what does "Yo Soy" mean?  I tried looking it up, but all I got were a hundred videos from the show and a bunch of stuff in Spanish.  I know maybe three words in Spanish and "Yo Soy" are not among them.

It mean "I am".

So this show is based on people imitating artist by saying "I am (insert artist name)".

Thanks!  Now it makes sense.  They kept saying Dream Theater, but Yo Soy James Labrie.

:lol Yep. Long-haired judge even went for a cymbal smash, and got it.

Wow, he's uncanny. It shows that the proper and only way to do justice, vocally, to a DT song is to sound exactly and precisely like James  ;D
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

:rollin

You didn't think that was awesome?!?!     That's the most cringeworthy "cover" of The Mirror I've ever heard. As for why no music, I am guessing (and someone in the know, feel free to correct me) that this was at the audition stage, and if I recall correctly, for most of these talent shows, a person has to perform a cappella.
