During the lockdown I have been watching a lot of King Of Queens re runs and he just kills me on that. Arthur Spooner had some of of the same weirdness as Frank Costanza but there was a softer side that he would show Carrie and Doug that George never got. Every time he did his signature faster and faster, louder and louder rants I belly laugh out loud. most of what came out of his mouth was so absurd! Also loved him on the Snakes and Arrrows(? ) skits.
Good for you Jerry, you are finally reunited with your partner Anne.

Heard about it this money, sad news. I'll admit that I saw him on King of Queens before I saw him on Seinfeld and his performance was always the highlight of the show.

Aw man :(

I'm sure I've seen him in plenty of things but I really can't think of any off the top of my head. I know him mainly for King of Queens because my parents love that show and still watch it often. He cracks me up.

I'm happy with all the references to King Of Queens; in my market, it's being run a lot in that 11:00, 11:30 pm timeframe, and I think that show is hilarious.

I know he had a solid career before Seinfeld, but crazy that at a later point in life, he created two iconic (well, one iconic, and one amazing) supporting characters like he did.

I talked in another thread about supporting characters and how they are best when they (duh) support the show. A Frank Costanza show would never have worked. But man, having him in bits and pieces on Seinfeld (and King of Queens) was brilliance. Never before or since have characters like Frank and Estelle given insight in to how another character, George, is the way he is.

That's a great story. I've only ever seen him in Seinfeld and KoQ, so on the rare occasion I see him giving an interview, it is so strange to see him as a normal person.

I'd have to dig and find it on YT, but I remember Jason Alexander saying that Stiller's struggle to remember his own lines made Frank Costanza that much funnier.  Think of all of those lines where it was like he paused before saying the next line or even a word mid-sentence.  That was not written that way.  That was Jerry Stiller remembering his line on the fly and it coming out in that halting fashion, which ended up being so funny.  Alexander said Stiller would apologize and say he'd get it better next time. Meanwhile, the entire cast is on the floor laughing because of how funny it was.

No doubt. The Best in Show role just stands out to me as a favorite (it is also my favorite of that group of movies he and that team of comics did).
