Jordan Rudess Piano rendition of Begin again
« on: May 09, 2020, 10:54:01 AM »
So who saw his Facebook live concert yesterday?

Damn Begin again put me to tears.

Instrumental versions like that really gets me.

Jordan's version of Wait for Sleep is really good too,

Oh and special appreciation to Kevin Moore he is the one who wrote that music after all.

And she listens openly

Didn't see it. Hopefully it was a dress rehearsal for the "Prog From Home" concert later today which I plan to watch later.

Loved the performance yesterday, great job at merging all the parts together.

Here's a YouTube link if you don't want to deal with Facebook:

And if you jump ahead to the 36 minute mark after Kindred Spirits, he teases the following:

I am an idiot. When I read the subject, I thought "huh, I don't know that song, I wonder who it is by." Then I heard it and was "oh yeah, *smacks head. I need to listen to that album again. I really do like it. But it is too damn long."

Wow, there's so much good stuff in there! His interpretation of Blood on the rooftops by Genesis was brilliant.

Things that stood out to me are hour glass, Wait for sleep and Kindred spirits love his rendition of John's guitar solo.

One thing about DT when they go mellow and emotional they really pull it off and you will cry Lol!

For reals. There are so many gems hidden in The Astonishing that get lost in all the barrage of DT things related.

How am I just seeing this? I think Jordan could release many, many great albums in the vein of The Köln Concert. Back in the day, those things were released as an album, now musicians like Jordan just decide to stream it online for free. I would buy this recording with a professional sound on vinyl immediately.

His Blood On The Rooftops version is indeed beautiful (as is the original). Also showcases the amount of intelligent and unexpected harmonic progressions in that song. Steve Hackett and Phil Collins outdid themselves with that hidden gem.

Edit: now he's playing Moonchild, wow, beautiful. Jordan seems to have exactly my musical taste :D I wish I could watch the whole thing now, but I guess it has to wait until tonight.
