I googled some of the lyrics I remembered and it was a song called The Last Escape by It Bites. I will have to check that, as it sounded really good.

John Mitchell has quickly become one of my favorite musicians in recent years. If you liked that, definitely check out his project Lonely Robot, which has three albums out so far, with a fourth due out later this year. If you like his work in Frost* and Kino, Lonely Robot is right up your alley!

One minor quibble: why aren't they leaving the name of the song and artist on the screen during the performance?

Came to post that very thing.

The Prog Report's "Prog From Home" concert begins on Youtube in around 20 minutes' time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSKx4G_ICZc

Watching now.  Have to admit that I really cringed when John Wesley started covering Tom Sawyer, but he seems to be doing really interesting things with it so it may actually be a positive experience.

It certainly was an interesting cover, but being a solo cover with just guitar, it wasn't awful. I've heard worse covers of Tom Sawyer before! lol

Also, the folks who put this concert together really LOVE using Neal's music during the breaks between performances...  bias much?  :lol

-Marc.

I noticed the heavy Neal emphasis on the bumper music as well.
Fairly enjoyable so far.

Paul Beliatowicz, Dave Klezmer, Randy George, and Adam Holtzman were other highlights for me as well so far.

Missed the name on this act (jazzy piece, singer with a scraggly beard). Anyone catch it?

Enjoyed that from Ray Wilson. Not a bad song at all even if it doesn’t sound very Genesis-ish.

Acquaintance!

This Enchant song was chosen by the fans via Facebook polling, I believe. Douglas Ott replied to my comment asking about Beauty & Sadness, their newest album that's been in the works for what feels like 2 or 3 years now, and said that it'll be out this year (hopefully). Here's hoping! They sound great here! Ted has been pretty busy between Enchant and PSA, so I hope he's got time to return to Spock's Beard whenever Al and Ryo are ready.

Man, I hope they come back soon. The Great Divide was pretty strong I thought given how long they went between albums. Lots of outlets to hear Ted, but I need more Doug Ott. Such a great guitarist.

Talking to Ed Platt it's Doug that's the hold upright now.

Doesn’t surprise me. He took his time finishing the last one.

This Ryo/SB Medley might be my favorite performance so far. Ryo is so fun to watch, and seeing him do a bunch of keyboard-heavy parts from great SB songs is a treat!

Neal thinks he's SO funny... well, I did chuckle a bit. An appropriate song selection from him, though!

That was an enjoyable "concert"! I hope some of these performances will get uploaded individually on YouTube as it would be fun to revisit them in the future.

Great show, and I think this is what "streamed concerts" should see as the benchmark. This was fun, and even though it was a one-song-per-act thing, I think something like this would be fun to watch again, with different artists doing different songs. The world of prog is so huge, you could do a dozen of these and not have any overlap!

I thought Mike and JLB haven't talked in 10 years. How did Mike get James to play keyboards for him?
