I have not, but by all accounts they're absolutely awesome. I'd definitely go if I ever got the chance.

Neither of I but a fiend of mine that saw them open for someone (Behemoth, I think) said they were awesome.

They sucked, the music sucked, the vocals sucked, all their songs sound the same.

I dunno why you guys are so surprised, I guess if you guys think they're good then it must be me, growling vocals distorts any good aspect of the music for me.

GO.  If you like their studio music even in the least bit, you will love them live.  Their music translates over to a live setting extremely well, to the point that it sounds better live than the actual albums.

Yeah you've definately gotta see them live. I first discovered them because I was blown away by them at a festival, and I've now seen them 4 times and they've owned me at each show. I've never seen a band who are tighter live. Their drummer is one of the best metal drummers of all time, and you'll almost certainly get a cool drum solo. So yeah, go

Well, I just took a flyer on their "The Way of All Flesh" album today.  I went to get three CD's, they didn't have have two of them, and this single Gojira CD was practically staring at me...and I remembered seeing a thread here, and it being ranked pretty high on a music opinion site I frequent (sorry DTF, I'm promiscuous), so without ever hearing a note (or even knowing what kind of music they make), I picked it up.  I'll let you know what I think in a day or two.

Two listens in and I can see the appeal of Gojira, particularly musically.  Lyrically...I didn't make out much, but I was playing it through my laptop speakers the first time, and playing a very intense game of backgammon the second time.  I knew that CD was calling out to me today at the store  :metal

whoa I just saw this, kick ass replies fellas, high school is awesome! heh
It's not like I said "Fuck this band and all their fans", I actually saw them live and that's why I was commenting here.
I loved the "seriously man" bit there Benny, really made it sound like we've been arguing for days and you're finally setting things straight lol
Well fellas I see no reason whatsoever why my opinion should affect your love for that band's music, I see no reason why you're so angry and I certinly don't catch when I offended you but I'm not commenting on that band anymore if that will make you happy :)
You guys are so cute hehe

Is the flamebaiting really necessary metty?  I don't understand why people have to come in threads just to shit on bands they don't like; it's really childish.

Bumping this thread because I just got Terra Incognita last night. This is my first album from these guys, and I have to say I'm rather pleased with this album.

Also, Lizard Skin is pure :2metal:

I agree.  I have three Gojira albums, and I would rank them:

1) The Way of All Flesh
2) From Mars to Sirius
3) Terra Incognita

I need to get their other studio album, but if you like Terra Incognita, I can't imagine you not liking the other two albums I have.

Alright, The Way of All Flesh it is then.

Also, Satan Is a Lawyer, cool song or coolest song?

Good to see some love for this album, it seems to get forgotten about. To be honest you can't go wrong with any of their catalogue, but when you get around to The Link make sure to pick up The Link Alive DVD too. It's got an amazing performance of pretty much all the songs from the first 2 albums. The version of Blow Me Away You(niverse) is the grooviest thing in the world

Bamp!

I recently picked up The Link, which only leaves From Mars To Sirius.

I have to say, so far I'm still liking Terra Incognita the best. I think it may be the vocals. On Terra, his vocal style seems much more concentrated on the deep, gutteral death growls (Lizard Skin for example) while throwing in a few other styles. While The Link and The Way of All Flesh has the gutteral vocals, Duplantier tends to focus more on a harsh sounding vocal style. Not quite death growls, but not quite singing. And it's not bad, but I much prefer the death growls over these type of vocals.
I felt its length in quite a few places.
