Ariich:  Thank you for the kind words; this has been a blast.  Really well run roulette, I'll tell you that.

Yeah seriously this was super fun for each round and the format is so good I aped it for my whole roulette  :lol

I was starting to regret not sending Kingcrow but then I remembered that it was because I sent them last time. :) I'm glad they seemed to do well here.

Yeah that's fairly comparable to the concept album round in my last roulette. There was one lower score of 3.0/5, but that was 12 tracks all by different bands covering multiple genres.
essentially the flow score is not gonna be a huge determining factor here  :lol

Really glad you've enjoyed it!

I think it's funny that the flow issues are due to tracks on an album that are already in that sequence. :)
:lol Yeah exactly, I'm not sure that album is going to be for me.

I mean, it's right there in the name of the roulette. :lol

I don't agree, the spread of flow scores is around 2/3 the spread of quality scores, and once we get to around 16th place, people are clumped close enough together that it's making quite a big difference to final rankings.

But if you mean that EP of sucky music that flows amazingly can put someone a full point over their competitors, then no, it wouldn't help that much.

i mean a 1.6 maximum possible spread compared to a (presumably) wider spread for song quality score :P
though to be fair there's little odds of a song quality score dipping below 7/10 in this roulette so

Yes exactly, that was what I meant. The 2/3rds spread in my last post was based on the current round scores (actual and tentative).

Yep, just working on a couple now to make sure I'm staying 5 ahead of what I'm posting so that rankings will definitely be settled. So next batch probably in the next half hour at most.

FINAL ROUND RESULTS, ranks 17-19

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
19th place
Tomi – Bittersweet

1. Sharon Van Etten – Seventeen
2. Elliott Smith – Waltz #2 (XO)
3. Daughter – Youth
4. Daughter – Medicine
5. Okkervil River – A Stone
6. Elliott Smith – Between the Bars
7. Okkervil River – So Come Back, I Am Waiting

First impression: There’s some gorgeous, emotional stuff here. I’m not sure I love all of it, some of the tracks are maybe a little dull.

Final opinion: Nothing blows me away here, but it’s a really consistently nice and engaging EP so it was actually quite hard to pick top and bottom tracks for it. I went with Youth because it has a gorgeous ambience, and the other Daughter track is nice too. The other standout is the Okkervil River tunes, which have a big emotional energy to them. They sound to me a bit like an American Frank Turner, who I love, so I’m interested to check them out more! The Elliott Smith songs are nice and have a cool Beatles vibe, but perhaps not overly exciting. Same goes for the Sharon Van Etten song, which is nice and upbeat but not especially memorable.

The flow is pretty good here on the whole, there’s a fairly consistent vibe throughout and the songs flow quite nicely from one to the next. The one I’m not sure about is the Sharon Van Etten which, with its big synthy richness, sounds a little different stylistically to the other songs, which are all very acoustic focused.

Music quality score: 8.1
Flow score: 3.9
EP total: 12.0

Roulette total: 67.9

Not the most successful roulette in terms of your final placement – you started a little weak and never managed to make it back – but damn you sent me some outstanding music again. I’m particularly pleased about the Soen which has really changed my mind about them, and the Goldfrapp was equally amazing. I’m also excited to explore more Tom Waits (his early stuff, mind!), Stoned Jesus, Daughter and Okkervil River. But what I also really appreciate so much is the variety of stuff that you’ve sent me – there was some stylistic overlap between Stoned Jesus and Corrosion of Conformity, but otherwise everything else has been completely different and all interesting in its own way.

You win the award for: Most Varied

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
18th place
king – Ariich has heard every band since the beginning of time

1. Yesternight – Who You Are
2. Cellar Noise – Nautilus
3. Hemina – Flat
4. Cyril – First Love (A Lullaby)
5. DarWin – Escape the Maze

First impression: A very nice selection of pretty emotive prog. There’s a really coherent vibe to all this, but enough variety to keep it interesting as well.

Final opinion: Unfortunately this EP hasn’t held up quite so well as my first impression, but I do still like it plenty. The first two songs are really great, which might have put me in a particularly positive mood during that initial listen. I especially like the dramatic stuff in the second half of Nautilus. Everything else is good still, but each track has something a little lacking. Flat is the weakest, and not nearly as good as the Hemina songs Chad sent me last round.  First Love is pretty and has a very nice chorus, but I feel like it could do with just a little more punch. And then Escape the Maze has a great finale, but takes a little too long to get there.

This is another one where the flow is good but nothing special. As I said in my first impression, there’s a coherent “emotive prog” vibe that brings all the songs together nicely, but enough variety to keep it interesting. The song ordering works well enough, and Escape The Maze definitely works well as a closer, but otherwise the rest just feels like a collection of similar songs.

Music quality score: 8.0
Flow score: 3.9
EP total: 11.9

Roulette total: 68.3

Joe, it’s been so great having you in the whole roulette this time, for the first time since my v2 back in 2011, as you’ve been so unlucky with your prelim submissions in the last two! You started strong, but then dropped for a few rounds and never managed to quite pull your way back up. But you sent me some fantastic music all throughout the roulette. You’ve stuck pretty closely to prog rock or other rock music that isn’t necessarily “prog” but is still proggy, but within that you sent a nice variety of different styles and approaches. And a few of those were absolutely cracking – I’m most excited about Abel Ganz (aka Moon Safari 2.0 as far as I can tell) but also looking forward to exploring Rise Twain, Southern Empire and finally giving Sting a proper listen.

You win the award for: Most Prog Rock

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
17th place
Sacul – bleep bliss

1. Ed Harrison – Tachi
2. Ed Harrison – Reboot
3. Arms and Sleepers – Kino
4. matryoshka – Monotonous Purgatory
5. Boards of Canada – In The Annexe
6. Arms and Sleepers – I Sing the Body Electric
7. Arms and Sleepers – Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye
8. Boards of Canada – Dayvan Cowboy

First impression: Your good run seems to be continuing. There’s a lovely ambience to half of this, and a great energy to most of the rest.

Final opinion: So yeah, Tachi is amaaaaaazing, and Reboot is also really cool though it’s more of an interlude really. I’m definitely checking out Ed Harrison. Technically you’re right that it goes downhill after that, although it’s still mostly really good. The matryoshka track is gorgeous music closer to a “modern classical” style, with really lush instrumentation. And the Arms and Sleepers tracks are nice too, there’s not a huge amount going on and I’m not sure how much I’d love a whole album, but the little subtleties in the production do bring them to life and there’s a nice variety between them – Body Electric in particular has a cool groove to it. The relative weak link is Boards of Canada – the Interlude track is a bit meh, and Dayvan Cowboy is fine, just a bit boring really.

The flow is nicely done here. If there’s one flaw, it’s that putting by far the most energetic tracks first does make the EP just slightly imbalanced. But apart from that, the track ordering is great, with nice flow between ambient and groovy, and the interlude tracks really help make it feel smooth as well.

Music quality score: 8.3
Flow score: 4.0
EP total: 12.3

Roulette total: 68.8

That Fishmans song was a bit of an error really – if it hadn’t been for that, this was an otherwise incredibly consistent performance and it’s been amazing having you in the whole roulette this time. Fishmans aside, I really enjoyed the experimentation in the first half of the roulette and am looking forward to exploring Nick Cave and Beth Gibbons. But then in the second half, I really feel like you’ve now got a better handle on my tastes in electronic music because even though I never got blown away (except perhaps the Ed Harrison) the consistency was just excellent and I want to check out basically every single artist.

You win the award for: Most Electronic

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Final rankings:
17. Sacul    = 8.1 + 7.1 + 8.2 + 8.3 + 8.3 + 8.1 + 8.4 + (8.3 + 4.0) = 68.8
18. king     = 8.2 + 7.8 + 8.2 + 7.7 + 8.0 + 8.2 + 8.4 + (8.0 + 3.9) = 68.4
19. Tomi     = 7.3 + 8.1 + 7.9 + 8.5 + 8.1 + 7.5 + 8.5 + (8.1 + 3.9) = 67.9
20. LordCost = 7.2 + 8.8 + 7.3 + 8.2 + 7.5 + 8.4 + 8.0 + (7.9 + 3.7) = 67.0
21. Lethean  = 7.6 + 8.0 + 8.5 + 8.4 + 7.4 + 7.6 + 8.2 + (7.6 + 3.4) = 66.7
22. Stadler  = 7.4 + 7.8 + 7.9 + 8.1 + 8.4 + 7.8 + 8.0 + (7.3 + 3.7) = 66.4

About my least and most best, I am surprised you liked Hive Minds, it was rather risky to send it. After knowing this, I could have sent a heavier Car Bomb song, I played it safe in that case.
I'm not sure heaviness is a great indicator really, as ever my tastes are quite inconsistent. :lol
It was the occasion to send the so called Traincore!

It's impressive how you managed to run this roulette :tup

FINAL ROUND RESULTS, ranks 15-16

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
15th place (joint)
romdrums – Vivid and Livid

1. Living Colour – Cult of Personality
2. Fishbone – Servitude
3. Public Enemy – Fight the Power
4. Living Colour – Funny Vibe
5. Public Enemy – By the Time I Get to Arizona
6. Living Colour – Which Way to America
7. Living Colour – This is the Life

First impression: The flow feels kind of disjointed, but I do love the theme that binds it all together. There’s a couple of duds, but the rest is very cool and kind of unique to this roulette.

Final opinion: Ok so first up, with everything going on in the west right now, this theme speaks pretty powerfully to me. There have been a couple of black artists in this roulette (Kamasi Washington, The Weeknd), but very few, and no rap or hip hop. So it’s really cool to get something from entirely black bands/groups, including some pretty iconic hip hop and a big focus on the experience of black people in the west. In terms of music quality, it’s a bit of a mixed bag but there’s some great stuff. I’m loving all three of the Living Colour tunes from Vivid, really cool grungy funk rock. The other LC tune is alright, but much less interesting. Rap-based genres like hip hop and grime aren’t huge for me but I do love some stuff in them, and I’ll add By the Time I Get to Arizona to that. Fight the Power I definitely appreciate conceptually but musically it’s pretty bland. The weakest track here is the Fishbone – it’s not terrible and the verses are actually really cool, but the slightly discordant “chorus” just isn’t doing it for me.

Flow-wise, this is all a bit disjointed but I’ve come round on it somewhat. Fortunately there’s enough stylistic overlap (for example the rapped vocals in Funny Vibe and the funky stuff in Arizona) to have a somewhat consistent thread through the EP. And of course the overarching theme is important in bringing it all together meaningfully. But the different production styles and sounds do still stop it from flowing as well as I’d have liked.

Music quality score: 8.1
Flow score: 3.7
EP total: 11.8

Roulette total: 69.3

You were one of the people I specifically had in mind when designing a no-eliminations roulette this time, after your bad luck in the prelims of my last two. And it’s paid off for me hugely, as you’ve sent me consistently great stuff – in fact you’re one of only a handful people to have never dipped below an 8.0, which demonstrates that the final rankings aren’t the be all and end all. It was very much a roulette of two halves for you in terms of style – the first half was dominated by djenty prog metal, one of which was amazing (Valis Ablaze) and the rest of which was still really solid and kept you upper table. In the second half, you branched out into other styles and never reached the same high point, but you maintained a higher overall level of quality with some really exciting music. Unfortunately, your competitors upped their game in the last two rounds, which saw your standing drop. Still, it’s been a real pleasure having you on board.

You win the award for: Most Djentlemanly

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
15th place (joint)
Nekov – A Passage Beyond

1. Gordi – Heaven I Know
2. Lucy Rose – Be Alright
3. Gordi – Long Way
4. Beirut – At Once
5. Gordi – Volcanic
6. As Tall As Lions – You Can’t Take It With You

First impression: Nothing out of the ordinary but damn it’s really lovely stuff. There’s a really consistent vibe throughout this whole EP.

Final opinion: I didn’t end up loving this quite as much as I thought I might on first listen, but it’s still really great. It was one of the easiest EPs for me to choose a favourite and least favourite. The Lucy Rose song is absolutely gorgeous, really lovely emotive indie folk and she has such a pretty voice. And by contrast, the ATAL song is easily the weakest here – it’s still very nice and has a great downtempo groove, it’s just not hugely exciting. And then everything else, while perhaps not mindblowing or anything, is just really excellent indie pop. The Beirut I think might have benefit from a bit more energy, but I like the piano work, and then all three Gordi songs are really nice, delicate and thoughtful music.

I like the flow a lot here. It’s a pretty simple collection of songs really, but they all have a very consistent vibe, the production styles aren’t identical but they’re complementary, and the track order and the way you spread the Gordi songs throughout works really well.

Music quality score: 8.2
Flow score: 4.1
EP total: 12.3

Roulette total: 69.3

I’m sure you’d have liked to have placed higher in the end, especially after climbing the rankings well around the middle rounds. But a couple of slightly weaker rounds (in relative terms I should stress – I liked everything you sent me!) made it hard to compete in such a high-scoring roulette. It’s been amazing having you in the whole thing for the first time since you won my v3. Portico Quartet is the one I’m most looking forward to diving into, and it turns out my brother likes their stuff too so I’m pretty excited about that. But Lazerhawk, Moron Police, Bend Sinister, Pendragon, Lucy Rose and Gordi were all great too so I can’t wait to get exploring.

You win the award for: Most Unconfident About Your Own Submissions

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Final rankings:
15= Nekov    = 8.2 + 7.8 + 8.5 + 8.3 + 8.2 + 7.8 + 8.2 + (8.2 + 4.1) = 69.3
15= romdrums = 8.0 + 8.7 + 8.0 + 8.1 + 8.3 + 8.3 + 8.1 + (8.1 + 3.7) = 69.3
17. Sacul    = 8.1 + 7.1 + 8.2 + 8.3 + 8.3 + 8.1 + 8.4 + (8.3 + 4.0) = 68.8
18. king     = 8.2 + 7.8 + 8.2 + 7.7 + 8.0 + 8.2 + 8.4 + (8.0 + 3.9) = 68.4
19. Tomi     = 7.3 + 8.1 + 7.9 + 8.5 + 8.1 + 7.5 + 8.5 + (8.1 + 3.9) = 67.9
20. LordCost = 7.2 + 8.8 + 7.3 + 8.2 + 7.5 + 8.4 + 8.0 + (7.9 + 3.7) = 67.0
21. Lethean  = 7.6 + 8.0 + 8.5 + 8.4 + 7.4 + 7.6 + 8.2 + (7.6 + 3.4) = 66.7
22. Stadler  = 7.4 + 7.8 + 7.9 + 8.1 + 8.4 + 7.8 + 8.0 + (7.3 + 3.7) = 66.4

That's a fair assessment of the EP. I would have liked to have a different ending but I was struggling to find the right track. My original idea was to include more Beirut in it but the rest of their stuff is quite different and the only other bands I could think would go well in an EP with them were banned.

Anyways, it was a fun ride

FINAL ROUND RESULTS, ranks 20-22

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
22nd place
Stadler – The Singer Not The Song

1. Van Halen – In a Simple Rhythm
2. Sammy Hagar – Swept Away
3. Van Halen – Take Me Back (Déjà vu)
4. David Lee Roth – Tobacco Road
5. Sammy Hagar – Psycho Vertigo
6. David Lee Roth – Big Trouble
7. Van Halen – Blood And Fire

Final opinion: I’ve never bothered to check out Van Halen before, despite them being very famous, and to be honest this doesn’t change my mind at all. None of it is bad, and instrumentally it’s pretty nice and there is some cool guitar work throughout, but I still wouldn’t call it very exciting. And vocally, I just find it really, really bland I’m afraid. Of the VH and DLR songs, honestly the only one that interests me really is Take Me Back (Déjà vu), which is solid, but the rest, nah.

I will say that In A Simple Rhyme is one of my favorite Van Halen songs.

However, in typical Stadler fashion, he leaves out what really makes Van Halen great.

Lesson: If you ever ask Stadler to recommend some tracks from a band, listen to everything but the tracks he recommends.

This is hateful.    :)

You're kind of right, though; I do gravitate to the odder tracks.  Here, though, I was going purely for vocal performance and I was trying to stay away from the overly testosterone-ish (so no Black And Blue, for example).    Not as a challenge, but out of curiosity, what would you have sent (again, with the two criteria)?

Well...OK..
First off, I'm not familiar with Sammy solo. Thinking of what I'd send from Van Hagar. There's not a whole lot. There are plenty of good songs, but none are really what I'd ever think of sending. Maybe 5150. Judgement Day.

The thing about Ariich is that he likes things funky and tight sometimes. In A Simple Rhyme is one of my favorite VH tunes, but I just don't think it's unique enough to catch an ear.

I would think something like I'm The One, Light Up The Sky, Honeybabysweetiedoll, Outta Love Again....something like that.

As far as DLR solo, the only song I'd consider would be Yankee Rose.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

If I'm going DLR solo to Rich I would send "Hot Dog & A Shake."  Plus the story of the guitar solo adds to the song.

Totally fair assessment although I kinda expected you to dig the Arms and Sleepers tracks a bit more. The funny thing about that Ed Harrison album is that it's a soundtrack... for a Counter Strike mod! It's just brilliant, pretty varied, and gorgeous record. A bit bummed that Boards of Canada didn't move you, that track gets me pretty emotional (unlike most of their work lol) but it's probably not for everyone.

Thanks for having me, I loved the chance of sending stuff I don't usually go for in roulettes, in particular the electronic things. I quite regret having sent that particular Fishmans track instead of a selection from their 1997 album which I think you'd have loved as it's very chill and lovely downtempo / trip-hop - I might send a few tracks as a tiny post-roulette bonus if you don't mind.

Tomi – Bittersweet

1. Sharon Van Etten – Seventeen
2. Elliott Smith – Waltz #2 (XO)
3. Daughter – Youth
4. Daughter – Medicine
5. Okkervil River – A Stone
6. Elliott Smith – Between the Bars
7. Okkervil River – So Come Back, I Am Waiting

Yeah, not my best roulette but then again, I didn't have that much music you don't know. Actually so glad I sent the most varied stuff :)

I certainly don't mind at all! If you think I'd like the whole album then I'd be happy to check that out - there are no rules or limits with any post-roulette suggestions. But I'm also very happy for you to choose a selection of tracks if you prefer. :)

FINAL ROUND RESULTS, ranks 12-14

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
12th place (joint)
Indi – The Fourth Caravel

1. Savatage – The Ocean
2. Jason Robert Brown – On the Deck of a Spanish Sailing Ship 1492
3. Savatage – Underture [extract]
4. Lucifer's Friend – Spanish Galleon
5. Savatage – The Storm [extract]
6. Crack the Sky – A Sea Epic
7. Savatage – The Storm [extract]
8. Wuthering Heights – The Mad Sailor
9. Savatage – The Ocean [extract]

First impression: The storytelling and general build-up here seem pretty magical. The music is nicely theatrical and it all sounds at least pretty good, some of it even great.

Final opinion: I’m going to break trend here and talk about flow first. It’s superb, among the very best of the round. The four main songs cover three different genres (music theatre, prog rock x 2 and folk/power metal) but they all have a big theatricality to them. There’s a strong thread through as well, with each song a little less “show tune” and more rocking in style. Plus of course there’s the lyrical narrative which is executed brilliantly and helps add another layer on top of the musical flow. And finally, the way you used the Savatage extracts to segue seamlessly between each song was great.

As for musical quality, it’s all really good, and just as with the flow ramping up the energy throughout, so does my enjoyment increase. The Jason Robert Brown is very good, although the harmonic approach isn’t always all that accessible to my ears, so it ends up ranking bottom of a strong set of songs. The Lucifer’s Friend and Crack the Sky songs are both great and pretty level in quality – the former being more of an epic journey and the latter being more focused and punchy. If I had to choose between them, I’d probably go with A Sea Epic just because I really love that main guitar motif. And then the Wuthering Heights song is just so much fun. I’ve no idea what I’ll think of their music in general – it’s quite possible I’ll find it a little corny – but this song just has such a charming energy to it, and a ridiculously catchy chorus.

Music quality score: 8.3
Flow score: 4.5
EP total: 12.8

Roulette total: 69.4

Your consistency in this roulette has been remarkable, with all of your scores coming in a range of 0.4 (7.9 to 8.3) which is by far the narrowest range of the roulette. You perhaps never quite managed to blow me away, but you also never once failed to interest, entertain and/or move me. And to have done that with among the riskiest submissions of anyone is mighty impressive. In fact, I think you’re the lowest ranking player for whom every single artist you’ve sent me I want to check out more. So I’m not going to just list them all out, but I will say that the ones I’m most excited about are that Dire Straits album, and Crack the Sky and Wuthering Heights from your EP. I’m so happy you played this time, and I’ve enjoyed getting to know each other’s tastes much better in our respective roulettes this year.

You win the award for: Most Consistent

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
12th place (joint)
Elite – Ecstasy: Through Ghosts of the Past Towards a Dark Future

1. Obsidian Kingdom – Oncoming Dark
2. Obsidian Kingdom – Through the Glass
3. Obsidian Kingdom – Cinnamon Balls
4. Misþyrming – Og er haustið líður undir lok
5. Hamferð – Frosthvarv
6. Hamferð – Hon syndrast
7. Obsidian Kingdom – Last of the Light
8. Misþyrming – Alsæla

First impression: Moody, weighty, but actually pretty accessible and really immersive. One of these artists sounds so much better than my previous experience with them.

Final opinion: Gosh, this is a really bleak and tonally heavy EP. :lol It’s all doom/black metal, and all three artists sound really fantastic and have their own unique flavour. I’m particularly pleased with Obsidian Kingdom – you sent me another of their albums way back in my v3, and I didn’t like it very much, but this is so, so much better. It’s still heavy and depressing, but it’s punchy, immersive, varied and oddly accessible, and all four of their tracks here are the big highlight for me. But that doesn’t mean the rest isn’t also great. Initially I thought the first Misþyrming song might be slightly run-of-the-mill doom metal, but the atmosphere in the second half is fantastic. I noted Frosthvarv as the least best only because something had to be, but there are no weak songs here, it’s all very high quality and the best thing you’ve sent me all roulette!

The flow is also great. Like most EPs there’s no specific theme or narrative, but it’s extremely consistent and coherent, and the track ordering works really well. It starts more riff-driven, moving more slow and bleak in the middle, some more atmospheric moments (I love the trumpet in Last of the Light) and then back to some real intensity for the final song. There are a couple of slightly jarring transitions but nothing major and it doesn’t stop this from being a really engaging EP.

Music quality score: 8.7
Flow score: 4.1
EP total: 12.8

Roulette total: 69.4

It’s been so great having you in my roulette again, after your unfortunate prelims in the last two. You may have finished mid-table like you did in my v3, but the quality was so much higher and more exciting this time, and it’s only because the competition was so fierce that you didn’t rank higher. You definitely saved the best to last as well, sending one of the best EPs of the round. As well as all three EP artists, I’m also particularly excited about Scarlet Stories and Perihelion Ship. Plus I’m looking forward to exploring more Messa, giving Blindead another chance, and checking out more Kamasi Washington although I’m a bit daunted by the prospect of a 3-hour album called The Epic. :lol

You win the award for: Longest Songs

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
12th place (joint)
lonestar – The Epic Italian Prog Metal Album

1. Secret Sphere – Portrait of a Dying Heart
2. Stargate – Save the World
3. InnerShine – Always Late
4. Kingcrow – Night's Descending
5. Absolute Priority – Dead Man Walking

First impression: The theme is fun, though might be at risk of backfiring somewhat. Everything sounds enjoyable and talented but not much stands out.

Final opinion: Ok so it turns out I was being unfair when I said that nothing stands out. Actually, the Kingcrow really stands out for two reasons. Firstly, it’s by far the strongest track here – it’s so emotive and immersive – genuinely excellent. Secondly, while being a similar style to what I’ve heard from Kingcrow before, it’s far superior (Gildenlow’s vocals help, sure, but the song generally is just great all round). The other song that has grown on me a little is the Absolute Priority track, where I’m rather liking the epic stuff, and I think I’ll want to check out an album by those guys. The first three tracks are all fine – talented and enjoyable enough as I said in my first impression – but they all just feel very standard mid-tier prog to me. And while the theme genuinely made me smile, fitting these tracks into the typical “Italian prog metal” formula, it does sort of highlight the formulaic approach.

That said, the theme does help with the flow of the EP, which is great. Nothing mindblowing, in that there’s no strong sense of build or direction as such, but the songs are very consistent in style, tone and production, and the track order benefits from the fact that the common formula is common for a reason: because it works.

Music quality score: 8.0
Flow score: 4.1
EP total: 12.1

Roulette total: 69.4

It’s been brilliant having you on board again, and this time for a full roulette – you skipped my last two and only survived for half of my v3. You struggled a little in some of the middle rounds, not that you sent me anything bad at all, just lower than most of your competitors which saw you drop down the table a little. But you pulled it back with a lot of style to finish in a very respectable position. From the evidence of this roulette, it seems perhaps the area our tastes overlap most is on the heavier side, which was where all your highest scores came from – Aeternam, Deadly Circus Fire, Allegaeon and Ninjaspy especially and a couple of the EP artists too. But I also really appreciate you sending me some of your other non-metal favourites, which may not have hit the mark quite so well but gave me a fuller understanding of your tastes!
