We have once again a top 10! with the usual two songs at the lead.

Of course this late in the game all the attention is to the fight for qualification - there's a BIG but not decisive jump forward of Crownless and Walking in the Air, while there's a melee of SIX songs fighting for TWO slots!

If it all ended now and it would be up to me, I'd save Higher than Hope and, dunno, either one out of Feel for You, The Riddler or For the Heart I Once Had, but I'm sad that My Walden might now pull through. Go Crownless go however!

WHOAH! exciting movements at the top ONE WEEK before the end of the regular season! The atmospheric beauty of Sleeping Sun brings down the mammoth opener of Dark Passion Play, which means that now Beauty of the Beast finds itself ALONE at the top, and just about to win in solitude the regular season! the other two "beasts", Ghost Love Score and The Poet and the Pendulum, fell respectively to She is My Sin and Sleeping Sun.

The top 10 also gets shuffled around a lot, becoming a top 12 - for what it matters, will we have a clear top 10 or these songs will all end up the season as they are?

At the bottom, it was a long time coming but we see the live staple Wish I Had an Angel eliminated.

For the exciting final 64 list, we see Crownless and Harvest making maybe decisive progress and this pleases me a lot (let's not screw this up in the last week ok guys?), while The Riddler and Walking in the Air are clinged to a spot that has room only for one song. And this spot interests as well four songs above the two Oceanborn ones, and other 5 that come right behind (personally I'd swap The Riddler for Devil and be done with it, there are sone good songs right behind but alas, you can't save them all).

I was so busy watching the movements around the 64th position that I didn't notice that almost every song left, by now, the very last place - now ironically only the band namesake song, Nightwish itself, is at the bottom, in the maybe surprising company of Sharbat Gula, a certainly good instrumental that never managed to catch a break.

The podium is for the other two giant epics, Ghost Love Score and The Poet and the Pendulum.

We don't have a proper top 10 because of a tie but we can stretch it out to a top 15 and I daresay that hardly anyone will have something to complain about these fifteen songs being up there.

Very glad that a defeat was not enough to condemn Crownless, and now we have five songs occupying four spots - one will have to go, and from 65 we'll remain with 64 final songs!

At the bottom Sharbat Gula grabs a tie - this means that the namesake song of the band ends up last, with 25 defeats. Unreal! (well, not so unreal, it's not exactly Iron Maiden or Black Sabbath as a namesake song, but it's a bit funny that it ended up that way)

So for the first three albums the leading song always won, and in two cases out of three (which, according to Meat Loaf, ain't bad) the first song defeated the second song in the final match.

RE the albums seeding: with Nightwish there are no blatant clunkers so it's a bit hard to separate the clearly best albums from the clearly worst albums, so it's hard to decide if that seeding is faithful to the overall quality or not.

While Dark Passion Play respects the "first song defeats the second song in the final", Imaginaerum throws this out of the window! what a comeback for I Want My Tears Back that started fifth and won while Ghost River, the top song, didn't even reach the final!

I "blame" the overall quality of the album for results being unpredictble and a toss of a coin basically.
