There oughta be a Buckethead survivor with all of his solo albums ;D. But how would you decide which songs goes to finals? So hard.

30 Solo studio albums. Oh yeah, some of his songs are short like 20 sec songs - but looking at like his first album on wiki you can see that the songs can easily be grouped into a longer "epic". Might be possible - though deciding the best songs will be hard.

So, the only Buckethead album I've heard is Crime Slunk Scene. I find it pretty entertaining, but it doesn't totally "wow" me. How does that album rank in comparison to his other stuff?

I really like Crime Slunk Scene, but it is pretty standard as a Buckethead album. He has a large handful of better material.
I felt its length in quite a few places.

Refer to the ultimate post of "SO LOL WHAT SHOULD I LISTEN TO", aka the OP.

If you want a quick answer, it will always be Albino Slug, from me at least.

Yeah, I'm going to use that post to make my next album choice. I was just curious how well-regarded Crime Slunk Scene was.

You won't find them all there, but you can get a few of them for about $15. You may have to turn to alternative means for the rest.

Colma deserves a 7/5 for Hills of Eternity alone. The rest is just an added bonus :p.

Colma is going to be the first album where it's going to be hard to pick a favorite song and an overall rating.

Necrobump.

Buckethead is awesome. I currently have Electric Sea, Electric Tears, Colma, The Elephant Man's Alarm Clock, Pepper's Ghost, Look Up There, Inbred Mountain and Population Override. And while I dig his softer stuff, I just love it when he completely lets loose on the insanity (e.g. the whole of Inbred Mountain).

I have most of his catalog up until about 2007 or so... He was releasing stuff so fast I just couldn't keep up.
Great stuff though

So, as Buckethead is more prolific than a sex maniac Catholic, is anyone in DTFland an expert on the Pikes?
Which are the best?
I prefer him when he's not being weird.

I really only like 1/3 of Buckethead's albums so I only have, like, 60 to listen to.

The best thing to do with the Pikes is just to devote an hour or two and just listen to samples from each one.  I only like the mellow or metal BH albums so I avoid the funk, the shredding, the 30 minutes of weird noises, and whatever other crap.

I really only buy physical CDs but those Pikes are expensive and no matter the length of a track, they are $.99 on amazon.  So I have gotten a few Pikes (2 tracks, 30 minutes in length) as downloads for $1.98.  Add to it that for prime members you can choose "no rush" shipping and get $1 in digital music credits.

If all else fails, check out the Pike Suggester https://decino.nl/?p=pikesuggester
