keyboard solo tutorial for Metropolis part 1?
« on: September 06, 2009, 04:25:56 PM »
Could someone possibly upload something like this explaining the keyboard solo after the bass solo but slowed down so I can learn the notes?  i know some of it, but then I kinda get lost, and I need help.  Thanks to whoever can do this.

Download a guitar pro tab of it - I'm sure the keyboard solo is notated out.

I can't read notation yet.

Well, if you open the file with Tuxguitar (its free), it has a 'view keyboard' function, which will show what note on the keyboard it is. It's clunky to learn solos with, but its better than nothing.

You can't read notation yet, but your goal is to learn Dream Theater keyboard solos? I'm not criticizing, it just seems like you're getting ahead of yourself.

Well it isn't like keyboard is my #1 instrument.  I just do it for fun, and to write music.  I am learning slowly how to read, but I'm not good enough to read a Dream Theater solo.  I can learn most stuff by ear, but for this I just can't.

curious, but if its not a primary instrument, and you cant read the notation, what makes you think you can actually play it? take the time to learn to read. its worth it.

And on the 8th day, God created Dream Theater. God then proceeded to rock out with his cock out.

I can't read music (well), but I taught myself some DT keys. Intro to Fatal Tragedy being one.

I used Guitar Pro because the notes are on there for you, and there is an option to choose the keyboard view which shows the keys you need to press. Obviously learning to read music would be more beneficial, but this works just fine for me.

I am going to maybe take piano lessons too, so maybe I will buy the keyboard anthology.  I know note values, and I know the keys on the staff only if I look at them for a while, but I wouldn't be able to just pull dt music off of the page.
