Book Title
« on: April 03, 2020, 02:55:05 PM »
Hi all!
Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during this crazy pandemic.
I am in need of your thoughts and opinions please.

If you were to see a book on the shelves with the title "Saved by Grace"...

What is the first thing that comes to mind?

Thanks

My first thought was that there was a grammar mistake (i.e., that it should be Saved by Grace), but then I realized that the book might be about a girl or woman named Grace who is a goalie in hockey, soccer, water polo, lacrosse, etc.

I was thinking more along the lines of Dimitrov, the right-winger, coming down the side, unleashing a rocket slapshot with 10 seconds left on the clock in the 3rd to tie up the score, and Grace the goalie makes the improbably save to secure the win!

Based on a quick amazon search of the other books called Saved by Grace, I’d assume it’s a Christian book or a romance novel.

Possibly about how a hockey player is saved by a girl named grace who brings him closer to god before revealing herself to be an angel during the Stanley Cup.

A collection of stories by people who love Rush's 10th studio album.

Or Kingshmegland's autobiography.

I thought it was a crime novel, starring hard-nosed, cynical Detective Jack Grace, who finds redemption from working tirelessly to find a missing girl, fighting red tape, a taunting sadistic kidnapper, and the clock to bring the girl home.

I wrote an unauthorized Kingshmegland biography. I titled it Power Windows Blows.

"Saved by Grace"

In that case, my first thought was some sort of religious connotation.  Also, this:  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0830900/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_3

The FIRST thing that comes to mind is that since the phrase itself is so cliche, it's not a very good title.

Second though that comes to mind is that a better title would be "Saved by Hef".

I still like my idea best.  It's the perfect first installment of the Jack Grace books, followed by:

Grace Under Pressure ("Grace has 48 hours to clear a man falsely accused of murder!")
Fall From Grace ("Grace is involved in an officer-involved shooting, and has to clear his name; but the scars will always remain!")
Coup de Grace ("Grace not only solves a decades-old murder, but reunites the victim's son with the rest of his family, healing old wounds!")
Grace Period ("Grace is sent under-cover at a local college, to try to bust a drug smuggling ring using foreign exchange students!")
But For The Grace Of God ("Grace breaks up a child-trafficking ring falsely using the Catholic Church as a smoke screen, saving hundreds of kids from a life of crime, sex and drugs!")
