You know what my least favorite part of roulettes are? Making banned lists and figuring out a scoring system that is both fair and won't be a hassle to work with. "So, K-boy, what do?" TAC might ask. Easy! NO SCORING SYSTEM! And the BANNED LIST will be reduced significantly.

Instead, we're gonna fight to the death, tournament style. Best song wins, simple as that. Two men enter, one man leaves. Welcome to the Thunderdome, mofos.

HOW THIS ROULETTE WORKS:
- all rounds until semifinals are single song
- last 4 contestants submit a themed EP of their choosing; no restriction on amount of songs or interludes, can be from one artist or many, literally the only restriction is that it cannot be over 30 minutes long. You have a 5 second window of leniency on that rule and that's it.
- last 2 contestants submit an album of their choosing; it can be a story, it can be a bunch of songs unconnected to each other, it can be a bunch of songs loosely connected by a theme but not musically or stylistically. I want you to be creative and make me something that you can have fun with but think I might enjoy. Can be a collection of songs from one artist or a bunch. I do not care. Literally the only rule is that it cannot be longer than 60 minutes. Again, you have a 5 second window of leniency on that rule and that's it.

I forgot to mention that I would like to have a 'freebie' round in round 1. Only one person here hasn't played in one of my roulettes, some people have played before but have barely sent anything or haven't played in years, others have played in every one, so I want to give everybody a fair chance. If you've already sent a song, you're more than welcome to send a different one if you'd like since I forgot to include this in the first post.

Here's all you have to do:
1. Check my Last.FM page. This will give you a good idea of the music I like.
2. Check my RateYourMusic page. If an artist has been rated 4 stars or higher on any of their records, they are banned, do not send them. If I have rated at least three of a band's records, regardless of rating, they are banned. It's quite possible you will send me something by an artist that slips past those criteria, but I reserve the right to deny them (Richie Kotzen's solo career is a perfect example, I love his music but he slips past these rules. Hank Williams, Jr. is another - he's not on RYM but I've heard enough now to know that I like him as an artist). I really hope this will make it easier for people to send artists. The 'massive huge banlist' post is too much of a hassle for me to bother writing right now and it'll allow a lot more music to be sent.
3. Please don't send songs over 10 minutes. Save it for the EPs and final round, but I'll take a 10 minute song earlier if I absolutely have to. You have a 5 second window of leniency. Do not send me a 10:12 song and expect me to take it.

SUBMIT VIA SPOTIFY if possible. Otherwise, YouTube links or direct downloads are cool. These days I do almost all of my listening through Spotify.

Tips & Taste

1. My willingness to try new things has absolutely exploded in the last few months. I've listened to over 120 new records since late December, I've found myself in love with atmospheric black metal, synthwave, and jazz fusion. (Everyone in my last roulette sent some amazing stuff out of left field, a lot of which I still listen to and love) Prog metal in the vein of Ihlo, VOLA, Voyager, Subsignal, etc. is my jam. I do not like dark, mopey, angsty prog music. If you value your place in this roulette you will keep that last point in mind

2. Piggybacking off of point 1, I have listened to a wide range of genres and styles lately, everything from pop to atmospheric black metal to neoclassical darkwave and country and synthpop and everything else. I don't like everything I hear, but I am an extremely curious listener and don't always have a rational reason for why I dislike something, even if it sounds very similar to something I love. Please don't take it personally if I do not enjoy your submission. Anything with harsh vocals is a complete wildcard, I could love it or hate it.

3. Please don't send songs over 10 minutes. Again, save that shit for the last two rounds if you think you can make it that far. I'll take a rule from the EP/concept rounds and say you have a 5 second window of leniency for sending a 10 minute song. Don't send a 10:12 and expect me to take it!

That's the point - I don't want a very long roulette this time, but I've wanted to do a bracket-style roulette for a while. Met in the middle you're in!

(Ideally everybody who played last time will sign up for this. Big Hath and romdrums and Buddyhunter in particular, because I don't think they played in any of my other roulettes and I still feel bad that they only got to play for 3 rounds. Really dug their submissions.)

Yay, Buddy and Nekov! Nekov... proceed with caution. Sending power metal is almost as risky as sending emo prog right about now. Chances are you might have a few gems, but that might be the genre I'm the MOST picky about. Fair warning, I'm totally game though!
