Try playing David Wilcox "Layin Pipe" a couple of times and not have that song stuck in your head.  One of the best subliminal sexual songs ever lol.  I forgot to mention Trooper, Boys in the Bright White Sports Car is such an awesome rock song.  Ironically a Canadian band that I wasn't familiar with until hearing a song in the last few weeks is a band called Haywire.  I'm sure Chad or Brent have heard of them but I wasn't familiar with them.

Not sure how many 'bands' I can rhyme off that anyone (other than jj and possibly Brent) would know that haven't already been mentioned.  Rockhead was one I loved, but only had 1 album.  Here's the rest... mostly of a 'classic rock' ilk.

54-40
Chilliwack
Sven Gali
BTO
Glass Tiger
The Guess Who
Max Webster
Steppenwolf
Trooper

Solo artists:
Bryan Adams
Burton Cummings
David Wilcox
Kim Mitchell
Lee Aaron
Sass Jordan
Tom Cochrane

There's more, but those are from the A-list that some might know.

I didn't even think of The Guess Who. I think Burton Cummings is an amazing singer.  "No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature" I sone of my favorite songs ever.   Tom Cochrane fan as well.

I Mother Earth
Our Lady Peace
Honeymoon Suite
Sarah McLachlan
Alannis Morissette
Triumph
Mystery
Lawrence Gowan
Saga

I can always rely on you.  Our Lady Peace.  It's a crime, if you ask me, that there's only one mention of this band here.

Starseed.

I need to get into Saga, it seems.

I'm sure Chad and myself can attest, If you listened to Canadian rock radio in the mid 90's, you are extremely familiar with Our Lady Peace.  Their first album was very good but I found things changed with their second album and they were clearly going for a mainstream radio sound.  I would say that the song Supermans Dead was probably the most played song on the radio and Much Music in 1997.  I'm not sure how big it was outside of Canada, but it was huge here.  Speaking of Canadian rock, I should also mention in 1997 I saw Big Wreck play in a small bar.  The opening band, in front of maybe 50 people was Nickelback.  This was about 6 months before they made it huge.

When the guitarist left is when they went more mainstream.   Still enjoyed them.

Spiritual Machines has a special place in my heart. I was in the middle of chemo treatments when my friend took me to see them in Boston.

Anvil
Kick Axe
Razor
Exciter
City and Colour
Matthew Good Band
Prism
Red Rider
Headpins

Good call on Anvil and especially Kick Axe. Great classic metal. Also Headpins is a great band and the ex lead singer, Darby Mills, is one of the best female singers I’ve ever heard. To me she is in the same level as Stevie Nicks. Speaking of female singers, the metal queen should be mentioned, Lee Aaron!

Pyramid Thereom -  huge Rush fans that referenced them in the video for the single Drive

Anciients - Great prof metal band with a third album due out sometime this year

thanks.

Some of them are certainly obscure, but others I know many around here know, although I'm surprised to not see some of them mentioned already like Protest the Hero and The Tea Party.

I’ve seen The Tea Party live a couple times and they are great. First album is where it’s at, “The River” and “A Certain Slant of Light” are outstanding, a major Doors vibe

yeah I love the early records (as well as many of their others). And you're right, Jeff Martin has a very big Jim Morrison element to his voice, but in a good way.

I wish i could claim to have seen them live as well, but they don't tour the States sadly. Maybe due to cost of Work Visa's? They do play in Australia regularly though.

No, not really. Couldn't name a single song of his.

As for favorite band, I would have to go Voivod. No question on that.

Solo, always loved Alanis. Also, Nelly Furtado before she sold out.
beul ni teh efac = Lube In The Face / That has to be wrong.  :lol / EDIT: Oh, it's Blue! I'm an idiot.
Pardon the interruption, but I just had to run in and celebrate the majesty of Lube in the Face as highest moment in roulette history

I have extensive knowledge when it comes to Canadian rock bands on the radio and Much Music (Canada’s MTV). The Tea Party, Our Lady Peace, Moist and I Mother Earth were probably the four big rock bands in Canada in the 90s. I’ve seen them all live and I can say in my opinion that all bands debut album were their best release

Jebus, I'm seeing a lot of shoutouts to Our Lady Peace and the only thing I know them from was that they did Chris Benoit's theme song, Whatever.  Great song, very intensive which suited the wrestler that Benoit was.  Sadly, they will not play it live for obvious reasons if you know the history of Benoit.  I did see them last year opening for Bush and Live.  They put an ok set for 30 minutes, even though I was unfamiliar with their material and that the sun was in my eyes the entire set (the only time in like 9 outdoor shows I've been to last year where the sun was in my eyes watching a set).

"Whatever" is, uh, whatever.  For me, the first two (maybe three) records are where it's at.  4AM is a phenomenal song, as is the aforementioned "Starseed".

EDIT:  Oh, and I love the song "U Smile" by Justin Bieber.  Great tune.

I can go deep into Canadian rock radio and bring up bands like Pluto, Age of Electric, Limblifter, Rusty and Sandbox (Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys was the guitarist). But likely nobody will know what I’m talking about.

But honestly when it’s all said and done, Rush is the greatest Canadian band hands down. Only Chad can compete with me when it comes to Canadian rock radio listening on this forum but there is no question he will agree with me.

Rush is the best  :metal
