I should be so lucky. I have recently shed 30 lbs though, so that might help!  :lol

Hey Tick,

I just ordered this jacket for myself. I'm 58. Ask your wife and daughter if it's age appropriate for me.
They did say, if I rode a bike and was in great shape they would feel differently. But whatever...I'm 55, still play in a rock band and don't act like I'm an old man. Why should I!

I don't think you're too old to wear it, but it's not worth $90 IMO.

For what reason? $90.00 doesn't seem very expensive for a nice leather jacket or a leather jacket in general?

So about 2 weeks ago I see this jacket come up in my Facebook feed and I fell in love with it. As time went by I started obsessing about wanting to buy the jacket. Its only $90.00 which is a great price!
So yesterday I said to my wife I really want to order that jacket!
So as I got home from work my 19 year daughter and my wife sat me down to give me a harsh dose of reality...
My daughter Bri says...
"Dad I hate to say this to you and please don't take it the wrong way but that jacket is just too cool for you. Its an awesome jacket but I don't don't thinks its age appropriate for you. You are 55. Its more a jacket for someone who is 27. I just don't you can pull it off. Sorry."

My wife says, sorry honey I agree.

So...
That was tough to swallow. I'm older maybe I'm not seeing it the way I should?
Thoughts?

Bolded the part that would clinch it for me.  I'm buying that jacket and wearing it whenever I'm out with the wife and the kid.   ;)

I mean its a cool jacket but I don't know if a 55 year old guy would look dumb in it?
Its not like I'm looking to buy a pair of skinny jeans with I would look utterly ridiculous in!

I was trying to be funny.  Like if my spouse and kid told me I looked ridiculous in something, I'd wear it just to make THEM uncomfortable.

Honestly, it would depend on how it looked on.  And how you feel when you wear it.  If you like how it looks and how it makes you feel, then who cares what anyone else thinks?  As long it doesn't say "Members Only" on it.   :D

I guess I don't really buy into the whole "You're too old for <insert something>"  It's just fashion choices.  I see what young people are wearing (nothing matches!) these days and I shake my head.  But who am I to judge really?  Wear what you want to wear.  Own your choice.  Perhaps if it works out for you, the wife and the daughter will see that you being confident wearing it makes all the difference in how they see it.

I mean geez, a concert t-shirt is like 40 bucks these days so 90 bucks for a leather jacket seams reasonable to me.

If someone came to me and said "Bro, I just got a great deal on a leather jacket", I'd be thinking they paid $150-ish.  I don't see how $90 for a leather jacket is bad.

Buy it and wear the hell out of it... I mean wear it until it's shredded in the sleeves and the spit from your drummer is caked on the back of it.

Dude!  No, they aren't seeing it the way they should.  If you like something then buy it.  Doesn't matter how old you are.  Doesn't matter what other people say, even your own family.  What do they know about men's jackets anyway?  Maybe if they actually saw you wearing it, they would understand.  I think it's a damn cool jacket and I'm surprised it's only $90.  Go for it!

:lol true
Tbh I didn't realize it was leather at first (I thought it was one of those half-denim things with the cloth collar) but I still stand by that opinion. I'm also a big thrift store person and got my most amazing leather biker jacket for $25, so I'm biased about paying full price for that kind of stuff most of the time.

I BOUGHT THE FUCKING JACKET!!! :metal :lol

And I had a promo code so I get to be too cool for school for only $76.49

I had to do it. Thank you DTF for without you I likely would have passed on it. But cool or not cool I will not live with the regret of not owning, "The Jacket"

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces
