Wait, I don't hear Tesseract in Ihlo. Ihlo is much better than Tesseract. :<
The first half is very Tesseract influenced with a heavy dose of Haken in there. Second half is more varied, some Devy, lots of synthwave influence etc.

I guess it's just because I don't listen to Tesseract much. I tried the Polaris album and hated it, didn't like Sonder at all, but I tried Altered State and really liked it. But yeah, I definitely hear Devy in there.

What song does the second half start on, so I can just listen to that? :P

For me it starts from Hollow.

For the most part, Ihlo have a much warmer melodic and harmonic approach than Tesseract do. The only time Tesseract really went so richly melodic was Altered State, which unsurprisingly you and I like the most of theirs (it's the only one I love). I think the comparisons are more about the general djenty riffing style.

Well that explains it then! AS is so much more pleasant for me to hear than those other two. No wonder I like Ihlo so much.  :corn

I actually made a wallpaper of the artwork for my work desktop, I love it so much.

Okay Altered State is definitely my least favourite TesseracT album but not by much, mostly due to not liking that singer nearly as much

One >>>>>>> everything, and one of my favourite albums of the decade, top 10 for sure

Oh yeah fuck, crazy stuff going on right now, totally understood

Meanwhile I listened to the Ihlo and Mother of Millions albums, the Ihlo is fine enough though not sure if I’m really hooked to replay this one that much.. the Mother of Millions album didn’t really strike a chord, it’s mainly the last song that’s fantastic and then a couple of cool moments spread throughout the album.

DROP THE LOAD

Hey I have all songs, here they are:

Taylor Swift - Lover
Almanac - Nevermore
Shattered Skies - Flipside
Have a Nice Life - Bloodhail
Susanne Sundfør - Accelerate
JPEGMAFIA - Jesus Forgive Me, I Am A Thot
Julien Baker - Hurt Less
Everything Everything - Night of the Long Knives
Esoteric - Beneath This Face
Illyria - Autumn Fades Away

Two of you this round have asked about/mentioned artists that were at that point already sent by someone else without you knowing about it, this probably shows there's still some pretty obvious stuff to send :corn this also might be the least metal round I've had in any roulette (just judging by what I know from the names), unless I did some non-metal themed round at some point.

Will do my first listen right now and first impressions :soon:

Illyria is TAC, i hope this does badly
Have a Nice Life can be Elite
JPEGMAFIA is home, i agree
Susanne Sundfor - Dacul?
Everything Everything is prob ariich
Almanac is Katt
Julien Baker is Ev?
Esoteric makes sense as Puppies
Shattered Skies is Bolsters by process of elimination I guess

betting half these are wrong

A mystery participant just informed me that I got the wrong Taylor Swift song, I took the album title instead of the song title, OOPS

???: Taylor Swift - Cruel Summer
Bolsters: Almanac - Nevermore
Kattelox: Shattered Skies - Flipside
Elite: Have a Nice Life - Bloodhail
Dacul: Susanne Sundfør - Accelerate
home: JPEGMAFIA - Jesus Forgive Me, I Am A Thot
Evermind: Julien Baker - Hurt Less
ariich: Everything Everything - Night of the Long Knives
Puppies: Esoteric - Beneath This Face
TAC: Illyria - Autumn Fades Away

That was quick

First impressionantos

Good vibes music, I'm not sure how much it will stick out this round but I'm generally pleased with the sound of this.

There's some stuff to like here, but this one element is mostly killing my enjoyment.

There's a nice subtle build to this, I'm liking it, just wish it had some more personality to it.

Nice blend of styles, honestly not what I expected from this artist going into it.

Spent almost the entire song waiting for something to happen, there's some questionable songwriting choices, but I find it engaging enough.

It's fairly memorable, but not leaving any positive impression or desire to relisten on me.

Really digging the atmosphere, I'm pretty positive this will grow on me even more.

The vocals have killed what in my head was alreday a bit of a middle ground tune.

This is the magnum opus I've been wanting you to send.

Potential round winner here, very lovely vocals and super cool instrumentation.

This round is super short, I love it. First round was over 80 minutes, second round was close to 70 minutes, and this one is only 50! I can probably get enough listens in over the next 2 or 3 days to get results out early next week. BUT after next Sunday I will be offline almost the entire time, so we should probably do a holiday's break for this roulette after this or after next round, depending on the speed.
