Never had a Red Robin chicken sandwich so I don't know. This sandwich is like crack. Eat one and you are an addict.

Last week, a guy from my office decided he wanted to see what all the fuss was about, so he canvased the office the day before to see who else was in. He got to the store when it opened, and he said there were already 6-10 people in line. He basically got half regular and half spicy (unlike Popeye's normal menu, the chicken is the same, and it's the mayo that is spicy). According to the 5-6 people who partook, it was good but nothing special (comparable to, but not necessarily better than, Chick-fil-a), and certainly nothing worth getting stabbed over.

This is certainly the latest food craze. It may be good, I don't know, but I'm not going to go crazy about a fast food chicken sandwich. I did however notice the rest stop on the turn pike that I drive past has a popeyes (I didnt think there were any that close to me) which makes it possible to try, but I'm probably not going to in the near future.

I really like Popeye's (I got liquored up in Savannah once and asked the cab driver to go through the drive through on my way back to the hotel), but haven't tried this yet.

I want to try this and the Impossible Burger, but haven't mustered up the courage for either yet.

You don't need courage to try this awesome chicken sandwich. The fake ass burger on the other hand I understand. A plant patty that bleeds. That's some scary shit.

I saw that and posted something about it on FB. Mostly I was posting it for a guy who really loves KFC, but the comments I got were interesting. Two folks responded with "DISGUSTING!" or "Beyond disgusting." I responded to the first such comment by pointing out that it's not really much different than chicken and waffles, and my friend responded, emphatically, "never had that combo, nor will I." I'll grant you that replacing the buns on any sandwich with glazed donuts is weird (and, while I might take a bite if someone had one, I wouldn't order one myself), but "beyond disgusting"? It's not like someone's sprinkling raw fish guts on Rice Krispies.

The branding is different, but that's not new. There's a two week county fair-type thing up here in Springfield, MA called "The Big E" (the full name is the "Eastern States Exposition" I think) and one hallmark of it is food trucks and food booths (like a carnival). And the annual story is "what will be fried THIS year?". Past years have been Oreos, pickles, lasagna, mac and cheese, even butter. There's one booth that has had the "glazed donut hamburger/chicken sandwich" for several years now. Not my thing, but it gets traction.

It doesn't look very appealing to me. Chicken and waffles can work, I've had that before, but the glaze on the donuts is what's throwing me off here. But I can see American's enjoying this and maybe it is good, but I'd rather just get the chicken little sandwiches if I were to go to KFC.

Just checked, he passed at 54 with diabetes and hypertension.
