In his 1994 book, Pale Blue Dot, Carl Sagan comments on what he sees as the greater significance of the photograph, writing:

    Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. I'll contribute some substance.

I heard the song for the first time while in my truck--in the parking garage before
work at 5:30am--when that main riff started, my jaw dropped open.
For the remainder of the song I sat there with goosebumps on the back
of my neck, smiling and thinking...holy crap! Then I hit repeat and it
happened all over again.
