Glad to see history correcting itself and more people placing Weather Systems over We're Here Because We're Here
i haven't gone back to either in a while but WYBWH was definitely my preference when i first heard both, i guess i'll have to go back and see if my opinions have changed though I don't think either would crack my list either way

Alright I'll post a placeholder for now and maybe come back to it at the actual end of the decade.

Oh you....

1. Ayreon - The Theory of Everything

Man, I don't agree with this as my Top 1 is something else, but damn, I'm so glad to see this. TTOE is around my Top 3 I think. It's such an important album in my life.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Ok..... I will give it a shot.

15. Ambeon - Fate of a Dreamer

You're 10 years too early (or late??)  This was first released in 2001.
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad

I always have considered We're Here Because We're Here better than Weather Systems, although not by a lot. But I have always rolled my eyes at people who found Weather Systems vastly better than We're Here Because We're Here.

I mean WHBWH still barely made in into my top 20, so I wouldn't say Weather Systems is vastly better, but I think it is by a pretty considerable margin

All right, I've updated my list to include 15 albums.

https://www.dreamtheaterforums.org/boards/index.php?topic=54441.msg2597066#msg2597066

I feel pretty confident about this list, especially since I remembered Switchfoot's Vice Verses came out in 2011.  Of course, I feel like if I would, I would put all four Alter Bridge albums released in the 10s, but I want to list some different bands that I have always liked over the years that delivered some fine albums.

8: The Dear Hunter - The Color Spectrum (2011)

[...] BUT, the fact that none of those 36 songs (well, except for one, which should be obvious if you're familiar with the album) feels like filler is frankly astonishing. [...]

I'm a bit late, but what song is that? I've heard the album many times & there's a few that come to mind that fit that description. Tripping In Triplets would be my first guess, but I may be wrong on that.

Oh, I was referring to Thermal from Indigo, in that it's the only track on the album that feels more like a segue than a proper song, since it's short, instrumental, and segues directly out of Progress

Understandable, but Therma is actually in my top 5 tracks from the album, so that certainly wasn't what I thought. :lol

I've amended my list on Page 1 to reflect the new rules, specifically the 15 albums and 2 albums per band rules.

Does this mean the top-ranked album gets 15 points, 2nd gets 14 and so on?

Pretty solid list there, and a few I'll have on mine for sure. Ostura and Haken will make an appearance for sure, still unsure whether DT will make the cut though. If they do, it'd be ADToE.

As much as I really like/love all four DT albums from the 10's, not sure any would make my top 10.  One might slide into the top 15 if I get around to doing an official top 15. I suspect the other three would all be in that 16-30 range.

Lucky we have some time cause it's indeed an overwhelming task the more I think about it.  :lol

Seriously, I don't think any of them crack my Top 10 of the year they were released.

Agreed. I get that this is DTF but if all 4 DT albums make your top 10 list you may want to consider broadening your musical horizons slightly lol. We like what we like though, I guess. ADToE might be in the top 25 for me, but that’s me being generous as a die hard DT fan.
