I only just now got the reference in the thread title. I'm smart!
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

Geez, can't get anything by you, huh? :lol

It only took you 20 pages to figure that out?

What gave it away? Was it this post?
Sure. I was actually toying with a Cover EP Round, to tie in with the $5.98 Garage Days EP,  but I thought that would be too restrictive. I would have had to have Banned bands.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

No, it was coming across the $5.98 Garage Days EP on Spotify just now while reorganizing my collection. At first I just thought it was either some ancient reference I'd have to comb my parents' memory for, or a Hannah Montana/iCarly reference.  :lol

Yeah, it was the episode where Freddie hitchhiked to the record store to buy a Metallica album, and his Mom showed up , grabbed his ear, and dragged him home.

Regarding bonus points... I would think it best to keep the number points consistent across all rounds, so everyone has the same chance to earn points.  If you have 5 points available in one round, but only 1 available in another, there's a lack of balance there.  You could make 5 bonus points available every round.  For the chick round, since you can't give it to best use of the theme, I liked Stads' idea of the 'best female voice' (ie, regardless of quality of song).  Dish out 5 points, which may or may not be 5 players, since the same act could be used by multiple players.

Just my $.02.

Yeah, I think I settled it already Chad.

I'm going to award a Bonus Point to the each EP next round containing the 5 best songs of the round.

5 Bonus Points will be available each round.

In the final round, they'll go to the 5 best concepts and how the music supported the concepts.

Curious ... when it's revealed that Stads had 3 of the best 5 songs, does he get 3 bonus points?  Or will the 5 bonus points go to 5 unique playa's?  Or did I miss the explanation above / last page?

So good question.  You didn't miss an explanation. here it is..

The 5 bonus points will go to 5 different people. So Stadler's 3 best songs will net him one of the round's bonus points, and four other people will each get one.

I would think it's one bonus point per person max and he has 5 of those to give out per round.
Edit: TAC is here to save the day.

Right. In each round, I'll give out a Theme Bonus for the 5 best EP's that convey the theme.

In Round 2, the theme is Female Vocals, so I'll pick the best songs of the round and dole out the Bonus Points to 5 different people. If one guy has the two best songs, for example, he'll only get one Bonus Point, and I'll continue to work my way down the list.

Are we all cool?

In two and a half hours, I'm posting everyone's best and worst song.

I actually have my writeups scratched out. I'd like to run through the EPs 1 or 2 more times for fine tuning. Results will be Thursday evening at the latest.

Tim, I know you've said that flow doesn't matter, but just wondering if you have a preference at all for grouping songs from the same artist together, or spreading them throughout the EP?

Have picked the songs I want to send for round 2, but wondering how best to order them, and thought I'd ask here so that everyone gets to see the same answer so I don't benefit.

To me an EP, like any album, should have a certain um..flow. Like the first song should be a proper sounding lead track, and a closing track should be the same.

I don't want to circumsize a mosquito over it, but it should have a natural flow I guess.. I just don't want anyone overthinking it, trying to splice tracks together.

I don't mean to sound vague on it. Order the songs how YOU think it flows best and I'll take it from there.

Yes. I'm going to have dinner and in about an hour, I'm going to start posting stuff.

PM what band you want to use, and in what future round. You will be locked in to using them. If you are planning on using the same song because it fits an upcoming theme, be sure to note that as well.
