The $5.98 TAC EP Roulette V.4

Wanna make some EP's? Well alright!

5 Rounds
First 4 are themed
Final Round is a concept...no theme except the one you give it.
NO Eliminations!

EP's should be no longer than 35-40 minutes. Obviously if one comes in at 41 or 42 minutes, I won't make you trim it, but please be mindful of the process and pace. Looking for at least 3 artists per EP.

Looking for ideally 8 people, but will accept 10. Any more than that and that could result in 10 day rounds. Hell, they may be 10 day rounds as it is.

Motherfuckers:

1. Jingle.boy
2. Cyril
3. Romdrums
4. Evermind
5. Puppies On Acid
6. Buddyhunter1
7. Faizoff
8. Kattelox
9. Sacul
10. Wolfking
11. Stadler
12.  Ariich
13. Elite
14. Lethean

Round 1...A Change Of Seasons

For this round, please pick a season and build an EP around it.

For example, if you pick Summer, it can be about beaches, hot sunny days, keg parties...
A Winter theme could be snow, freezing cold, OK..?

Round 2..Women In Uniform

For this, I would like an EP with Female Vocals. If you have a song that features both male/female vocals, the female split should be at least 2/3s.

Round 3...Saint Valentine's Day Massacre

Sain't Valentine's. A Day of Love. For this EP, please build it around an emotion.
Examples could be Love, Hate, Hope, Fear. Please identify with emotion you are using in your PM.

Round 4...Haunting The Chapel

Please build an EP around the theme of religion. Examples would be an EP about God, Satan, Religion, Sacrifice, Sun Gods, Mythology, etc..

Round 5...The EPstonishing

Make an EP. Tell me a story.

Please build a concept EP around a story.

Scoring

EP's will be scored on a scale of 0-20.
I will average the song scores and double the value. For example if the average of your song scores is 8.5, then that will net a score of 17/20.

I will add a point if you successfully conveyed the theme to me.

I will also add a point to the best overall EP each round.

Also, for each of your EPs, you will identify a song that you want me to use the score twice when averaging the scores.
For example if this is your EP song scores
Song 1...8.0
Song 2...8.5
Song 3...7.0
Song 4...7.5
Song 5...9.0
The Average is 8 which will net you 16 points.
If you designate Song 5, your score will be 8.2 or 16.4.
If you designate Song 3, your score will be 7.8 or 15.6

Understand?

Any track under 2 minutes will not be scored. if you think an into or transition piece might help you gain the extra point for best EP, or for best Theme, that's fine.

Also, I know EP's take some planning. So I wanted to do this.

Say in round one, after Hangman, someone uses Iron Maiden, but you wanted to use them for a later round. Once Hangman is revealed, but BEFORE the scoring, please PM me that you intend on using Iron Maiden later on. Once the scores are up, then you are locked in to using them.

Does that make sense? Is that fair?

Tastes...

I'm a hard rock.metal guy. I'm also 51 years old. I'm in the US, about 25 miles south of Boston.

Over the last couple of years or so, I've opened up to harsh vocals. I prefer Black Metal to Death Metal, but generally do not like Sceamo.
But by Black Metal, I don't mean wallofsoundblastbeatmania. There needs to be some depth.

My favorite bands are Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, UFO, Alice Cooper, All Things Dio, Thin Lizzy and Helloween.

Submitting

Please submit via a Spotify playlist link. Please don't waste any time trying to edit one song into another. I don't care honestly. I'm more impressed by the natural "flow-hesiveness" between consecutive songs.
If you must send me a download link, then fine, but Ideally, this is the exception and not the norm. Spotify will make it easier for me to listen and maintain a reasonable pace.

This post will be modified periodically for news and updates.

I wanted to point out that Behemoth is not banned, but O Father O Satan O Sun is banned, just incase anyone was thinking about using it in Round 4.

I just wanted to mention that in the OP,  when I say I will award 1 point for the best EP, I mean that I will award the point to the EP that best conveys the theme. Not to the EP that has the best songs.

OK, I like this idea for a roulette. Given themes for the EP's. That helps narrow down my choices.

Yeah, just remember they are not Concept EPs, until the last one.

I'm sure you can find 5 songs about winter/ice/cold/snow

Oh, I didn't see the No Edits bit.  :'(

Hmm. Guess I'll have to work extra hard on finding songs that work well back to back.

Don't lose sleep over it. It's really not going to be a big deal either way. There's one extra point per round that will include some "flow-hesiveness", but it's really marginal.

There are tons of bands that were sent in the roulette that I am not banning. I just don't want the same song. I'm not going back and listing the 216 songs that were sent to me. :P

If any questions, just ask, and I'll check.

Very intriguing setup! I'd like to participate though I do have a few questions, do I need a spotify subscription? I don't use spotify, I buy/rip all of my mp3s.

Does the banned list mean you can't use any song from the list of bands you listed? Or is it a play on words like 'band list', sorry haven't followed other threads on this roulette game lol.

Also, does it strictly have to be in the rock/metal genre? Any other genre like pop or movie scores, etc.. allowed?

Faizoff, I would love to have you.

No you don't need a Spotify subscription I think to make a playlist. You could check and see if your songs are on Spotify (very easy to do) and then send me a list of tracks in order and I'll make the playlist.

The iPod list are bands that I have purchased music from, and the Spotify List is bands that I have checked out and like, but have not pulled the trigger on a purchase. You cannot send any band on either list.

As far as what to send, you can send whatever you want. I am a hard rock/metal guy, so that is what I like. If you send me pop, while I will appreciate it, I can't guarantee I'll like it. But in roulettes, any song can be great in a vacuum.

For themes do they need to be tied lyrically? Like for eg, if the music makes you think of the theme and the lyrics really don't have anything to do with the theme, would that work? And when submitting the spotify link do I PM it to you?
Never played this roulette game before so might have a ton of questions.

Well, in Round 1, if you can find a song where the music makes me think it's freezing and the lyrics make me thing it's hot as hell, that would be quite a trick.

I mean, it's a theme, so for example, if you pick Winter in Round One, maybe the title of the song you use is Blizzard. Or maybe the title of the song is Cloudy, but the lyrics talk about how cold it is.

Also, I personally like to use an Instrumental on EPs, so you're really relying on the title.

I don't understand the pick a song to use its score twice thing but I'm in cause I got a lot of emotions to release all over this thread

So what that means is I will average the scores of the songs for your basic score. But You will tell me what song you would like me use twice for the average. In other words, you will basically be telling me what song you feel is the best on your EP, and I will count that score twice when computing the average.

The only caveat is that if I think your favorite song blows....the low score will get counted twice.

Another question
For themes do they need to be tied lyrically? Like for eg, if the music makes you think of the theme and the lyrics really don't have anything to do with the theme, would that work?

Well, in Round 1, if you can find a song where the music makes me think it's freezing and the lyrics make me thing it's hot as hell, that would be quite a trick.

I mean, it's a theme, so for example, if you pick Winter in Round One, maybe the title of the song you use is Blizzard. Or maybe the title of the song is Cloudy, but the lyrics talk about how cold it is.

Also, I personally like to use an Instrumental on EPs, so you're really relying on the title.
Got it, thanks. Does each round have to belong to one band ? so for round 1 it's band A and then round 2 it's band B...

or can we mix and match in each round?

It says in the OP that each EP must have at least 3 bands. You can do 5 different bands. One band twice and two others, etc...

Doh! missed that. Also since I edited my previous comment with a question, posting again.

And when submitting the spotify link do I PM it to you?

Yeah Faizoff, no worries with the questions. I'm glad you're playing. Yes, PM me a link to the playlist, or just PM the Songs in order and what theme you picked.

So in Round One,

Just say

Summer

1. Band-song
2. Band-song
etc...

No rush on Round One submissions. It's Tuesday night. I would hope to have the submissions by Sunday, but certainly not a mandatory deadline.

My pace will generally be dependent on your pace.
