This is definitely the most obscure round I've ever seen in a roulette. I've only heard of 3 of the bands that were sent, and one of them was mine

yeah a lot of this crap is obscure for a reason

a few songs have grown on me but i also expect at least a few people to be disappointed this round

I don’t get that theme, did post-metal even exist before 2000? I feel like combining the 90’s Boston hardcore sound with sludge metal like Neurosis is what formed this sound in the early 2000’s.. there may be some early Neurosis clones that could vaguely be considered post-metal.. but you hate Neurosis

(I find them ultraboring tbh)

Neurosis were pretty much the pioneers of Post-Metal. Of course, they also came from the Hardcore/Punk scene in the 80's. Their first 2 albums fit the Hardcore mold. Their first Post-Metal album was Souls At Zero which was in 1992. So there are 4 pre-2000 post metal albums just from Neurosis. Other bands that would qualify would be Godflesh, Isis (with their pre-2000's EP's), Dirge, and Lvmen. The pickings are slim though.
