Round 6 First Impressions

What I hear is a band with a ton of talent that doesn’t seem to have any clue how to wield it effectively, and a really confusing mix doesn’t help matters.

Phenomenal guitar work can go a long way, especially if the rest of the song is pretty enjoyable too.

The vocals have always been the sticking for me with this artist, and the same holds true here, but I like this stylistically a lot more than what I’ve previously heard from them at least.

I think it takes a bit too long to get going but the payoff is solid, even if I’m not too into it either.

This has the same issue as Darkspace where I have no clue how to compare something like this to the more conventional songs or how to score it, but I do like it a fair bit even on first listen.

Weird that this song in particular is the one in this round that feels too long for its own good.

I like the overall sound but it feels a bit rough structurally and the vocals don’t quite match the style, either.

Right now I find this solidly pleasant with some neat touches but really it’s going to live or die by how memorable I end up finding it.

Pleasant overall sound and a nice driving feeling as it goes on, but I can’t help but think it feels a little hookless.

Will take time to unpack and feels a bit derivative but I can’t say it’s anything less than solid and enjoyable.

Not quite sure how to feel about this round yet, nothing I outright dislike but a few songs are pretty meh, there are a fair few more interesting tracks here too though. I think the overall vibe of this round is kinda "gloomy" though, even if not every song fits into that mold, a lot of them seemed to

right now my current thought on this round is that everything is in the "it's pretty fine" range

mid 2's to very low 4's/maybe high 3's

could change on further listens but it's frustrating for me how am i gonna score everything like this

no two songs this round really sound all that alike either
